Chapter II. Set Controls for the Centre of My Brain

384 Words
Now, to return to the point at hand, that is, the transition from sleep to dream. Now, there are certain factors I need to satisfy to reach that land of dreams. It doesn't mean that the possibility of arriving is 100%, for sometimes even my ritual fails. Nevertheless, from my years of trying, I did find three certain factors I need to increase this possibility. First is that my eyes should begin to close on their own. I have attempted many times to try and reach my dreams through forcing my eyes to close and sleep. The trouble with that is that I find that I need a certain form of concentration to reach my dreams, and if my mind is occupied elsewhere, like telling my eyes to sleep, then my focus will not be set on the dream, and I will simply dream of a pure black view which is, in my theory, just the closed eyelids. Second is a pitcher of orange juice on my side. This comes from some research I read somewhere wherein it is said that if you drink half a glass of water before you sleep and another when you wake up, you have a higher chance of remembering most of the events of your dream escapades. I have tried this and it does seem to work, so I allow it. I simply replaced the water with orange juice as I like the taste of it. I am a citrus enjoyer, you see. Third is the comfortable sleeping position. This is also the reason why a sleep in the commute cannot work. I have found that if I sleep in the fetal position, four times out of five I do reach my dreams. For that I have found no reason for this working effectively, except for the comfortability. I have tried other sleeping positions I found comfortable, and it just does not work. Perhaps in time, I shall find some scientific basis for this. Now assuming that I do all three things right, I should be able to reach the land of dreams, and from here we can begin the circumstances which have led me to write this narrative, for it all begins with a certain dream I had. Now enough exposition, and let us get to business.
