The drive back to Rafael's house felt long. I kept replaying my conversation with Lorenzo, turning over every word he'd said. Having an ally should have made me feel stronger, but instead I felt more nervous than before. Mrs. Santos chatted about the market prices and which vendors had the best produce, but I barely heard her. My mind was spinning with questions I should have asked Lorenzo. How long would it take for him to gain Rafael's trust? What if Rafael got suspicious? What if someone saw us together at the coffee shop?
