Chapter 2: Not This Again

1467 Words
I open my eyes when my werewolf hearing picks up voices not too far from me. I had been laying in the tree for a while now, I might have fallen asleep at one point. From the voices it sounds like there are three of them and they are all men. Not to mention, they are all werewolves. No doubt from the pack nearby. My heart quickens and I move into my defensive position, ready to leap at any moment. The other parts of me prepare as well, lying at the edges of my mind waiting to pounce and 'snap their necks'. The men finally come into view and I can tell by their scent and aura that they are in a high rank in the pack. Probably the Beta, gamma, and another that I can't tell. But thankfully the Alpha isn't there. Then I would be in trouble. The Alpha is the strongest of the whole pack. I notice that all three men are carrying cross bows. They should be easy to take out. I am surprised by how fast my thoughts can turn from relaxing to taking out three grown men, but it shouldn't be a problem.  I perch farther on the edge of the branch, making the leaves rustle. The unknown man looks up and sees me, shouting to the others. I bare my teeth, showing my fangs and pounce. I land on his shoulders, putting my hands on either side of his head, then twist. The satisfying snap sounds and I let go, jumping off of him as his body crumples to the ground. A growl rises from the back of my throat as I face the other men. They stare wide eyed at the man I killed, then at me. Fear shows in their eyes, and they should be scared. I know what their seeing. Their seeing the true me, the monster that I am. My eyes turn to black pits, and I crouch preparing for another strike.   The man that I am assuming is the Beta raises a shaking crossbow, trying to load it. I smirk and inch closer. He somehow manages and points the bow at my heart, then fires. I easily dodge it with my speed and come around to their backs. I know that even if it did hit me that it would just bounce off, it's hard to actually hurt me. Only a mix between holy water and silver can cause me al lot of harm. These were just regular arrows. Shocked, they turn around again to face me. They fire again and completely miss. I lick my lips, imagining the taste of their blood. Using my magic, I create an invisible shield which I grip with my left hand and move around the men. They whip their heads around looking for me, shocked yet again. The scent of the blood is too much for Sheela and she takes control of my body. Our fangs find the dead man's neck and we drink, almost forgetting about the other men. When the body is drained I look up, my eyes returning to black. The men's faces have gone pale white now and I realize that my shield evaporated while I was drinking. I can't imagine what they think I am right now. They drop their bows and lunge at me, shifting into big wolves mid-air. The first wolf lands on me, digging it's claws into my skin and barley drawing any blood. My shoulders slam into the ground and anger flares inside me. The wolf's canines are inches away from ripping my head off, but he doesn't know that he'll be unsuccessful.  I growl in his face and roll over so that now I am on top of the wolf. I don't get to wrap my hands around his neck before the other wolf shoves me off and I roll, ripping my jeans. Using my magic drained most of the energy from me, especially because I used it earlier. I pant, waiting for them to make a move. The wolves start circling me, and with the last of my magic I use it to launch one of the wolves into the air, falling a long ways away into the trees. The fall probably killed it. I make a move towards the last wolf, ready to finish the kill. But it runs into the trees after the other wolf. Too tired to go after it, I run a ways away and climb a tree to regain my energy. Before I know it my eyelids have closed and I am drifting off into a deep sleep. I finally stir and open my eyes to see that the sun has completely disapeared, casting the trees in a pale light from the rising moon. I must have been out for a few hours, but it was worth it. I stretch and find that my energy has come back. I jump from the branch and slowly walk through the shadows, listening to the whisper of the trees. I can't tell if the night is cold since I can't really tell if it's cold. My body runs at a colder temperature because of my vampire so the cold doesn't affect me. My jeans and t-shirt are ripped in places and is soaked in dried blood, most of it not mine. I glance at my shoulders where the wolf's claws shredded them and see that there are no longer any claw marks. Being a werewolf, vampire, witch, and demon can come in handy with healing. I don't have to think to start heading in the direction of my home. I don't feel anything right now, no emotions. Just what's around me. I know that the guilt will come later, it always does after I kill. But Kali relished the feeling of bones breaking and blood being spilled under our hands. I sigh and lower my head to the ground, watching my feet move robotic like. Like I am not controlling my actions, my mind numb. Something wizzes by my head and I am pulled out of my sulking state. My eyes turn dark red so that I can see in the dark clearly. I hiss as something sharp grazes my arm. I see movement in between the trees and crouch, showing my fangs once again. Fresh blood oozes from where the sharp thing cut me, but it has already healed. My eyes switch between all of my eye colors, trying to take over. But I fight it, I don't want to kill again today. I turn and run only to meet more shadowed figures in the darkness. I growl, showing my teeth at them. More sharp things fly at me but everything feels like it's going in slow motion. I move and see that the sharp things are darts. I can't tell what kind though. I spin again as more come flying at me. I pick a direction and run, but there are figures there too. One pair of eyes shine in the darkness, taller than the others. The eyes are bright green and they seem to make everything disappear, making me forget everything that's happening. A deep growl rises above the commotion. Mate! Mate! Mate! Mundra yips happily. No no no no no! I can't have a mate. I have to hide. They will just keep me tied down and everything will find me. I don't want to hurt anything! Panicked now, and turn in the last place that would be empty and run. The only thing on my mind is to get as far from there as possible. Pain. Something stabs me in the leg and I yelp. I look down and see a dart sticking out of my calf, and yank it out. In my distraction another finds it's way into my shoulder. My leg starts to tingle and goes numb. So that's what they do. I have to drag my limp leg across the ground but my arm soon goes numb as well. I look behind me and see large wolves and people together running after me. My speed helps me but my leg slows me down. The numbness in my arm spreads to my torso and I see that another dart is in my back. I must have not felt it because of the numbness. My body leans forward, but I can't catch myself as I fall. I can't move, my body feels too heavy. My eyes droop, but I can still barley see. I see paws and legs come around me and stop, no longer shooting at me. One pair of legs stops right by my head and his voice sends shivers down my spine. "You're mine now." Is the last thing I hear before my world goes dark.
