King Julien sat on his mighty throne of dignity and power, his legs motioning downwards and upwards, his foot tapping on the floor as he strow his hands over his beard continuously then let out a deep chuckle.
Just then, the door swung open, and a guard stepped inside, carrying Jordan on his shoulder before setting him down close to Julien.
“King Julien, here he is. When I got to the room, Ethan informed me that he was done with the teaching session he was having with Ryan,” the guard announced.
Julien had issued an order to the guards directly: if Ethan had not finished teaching Jordan for the day, the guard was to wait until the lesson was complete before retrieving him.
“Thank you. You can take your leave now. Give me some space with my son,” Julien commanded softly, and the guard nodded his head with a bow.
The guard who had brought Jordan was none other than Henry Smite, the son of Smite of the Seven Swordsmen, the only few who were the legendary master's of the sword carver. His father was also a legendary warrior, and Henry had been trained to serve the king—and the king alone.
Henry rose from one knee, bowed, and departed the grand royal hall.
Julien placed Jordan on his lap and gently ran a hand through the boy’s soft curly dark hair. “I can’t wait for you to get mature, so I can test what you’re truly capable of,” he said with a faint scoff, a chuckle escaping his lips.
“I can't tell why my dad is scaring the hell out of me, don't know but am not comfortable anytime I am with him, aunty Fiona is right always, I have to keep anything I know hidden from him,” Jordan mumbled, trying to wriggle out of his father’s grip.
“Hey, little one, where are you trying to go? Don’t you want to stay with your father?”
Julien pulled Jordan closer and settled him back onto his leg, and Jordan gasped with slightly narrowed eyes.
“Tomorrow is your birthday. What would you like me to do for you?” Julien demanded with a soft smile.
The question instantly captured Jordan’s attention.
“I want you to let me see the main town of Sinclair, I'm getting bored feeling stuck in the castle like a caged bed,” Jordan replied, gasping, then continued, “I want a glimpse of how it looks beyond the castle walls.”
And just then, after Jordan spoke, Julien blurted out, with a raising voice.
“No, I disagree. It’s prohibited,” Julien shook his head with a no, as he continued, “You’re not allowed to leave the castle for many reasons. You could be hurt in countless ways, so if that’s your request, I’m afraid I can’t grant it.”
After Julien finished speaking he then continued running his hands over Jordan's hair and Jordan turned away, disheartened.
It wasn’t surprising that he spoke so openly to his father. Jordan spoke as fluently as an adult despite being a child, puzzling even the servants in the castle.
After a moment, Julien spoke again. “I’ll let you go, but only on one condition.”
And Jordan hearing his father finally agreeing, he curiously raised his eyes staring at his father to hear the conditions.
“If you visit the town, you must be accompanied by my private subordinate. You’re too young to go out alone,” Julien added, and jurdan gasped, narrowing his eyes again.
“Father, what’s the point then?” Jordan sigh then continued, “That’s not the freedom I’ve been seeking. Let me walk the town on my own and explore its beauty.”
“No,” Julien interrupted sharply. “That’s not happening. This conversation is over. Just because your body develops faster than a normal child’s doesn’t mean you’re invincible. If you won’t accept an escort, you’ll remain within the castle until you’re old enough to train with me,” Julien insisted.
Jordan sighed deeply. “Then I have no choice. All right, Father, I accept your offer,” Jordan smiled.
