Chapter 58“Death watch?” Megan's screech voiced her exasperation. “I never killed anyone and I don't plan to start with myself.” “She didn't do the crime. She's not guilty.” “Can't she come with me?” Megan pleaded kindly. Again the robot guards exchanged glances. “Impossible.” Abi had not left the cell, but two of the guards snapped on Megan's wrist cuffs, extensions from a metal belt they had locked around her waist. Then they shackled her ankles. “Why? Abi, why?” “Pray, Megan. Word will come through. You've been cleared.” “What if the Governor doesn't call in time?” “Pray, Megan, pray.” The guards ushered Abi out of the cell.
