Chapter 27The next day, Emery phoned to say that neither the State nor any government agency would pay for DNA tests for a prisoner already sentenced to death if it did not involve facts concerning the case. They claimed a jury found Megan Winnaker guilty and who her parents might be had no bearing on the crime. If Abi wished to proceed, she could order the tests as a private citizen and pay for them herself. The prison physician and other officials would be present when a blood sample was taken from Megan.
