The elders had finally decided it was time to send me out for my first bounty. Which is a rite of passage for my clan? It's how we get marks. So, they took me out to Lunar Lake, and thereby the shore stood a woman. I looked confusedly at the elder but I seemed not to be the only one. She first looked to the elders and then back to me.
“So, you’re the one to help rid me of my problem.”
“Yes, what can I do for you madam?”
“My father has promised my hand to a Lord's son but I have already given my heart away to another man. I love him and I bear his child in secret.”
The elders then asked for your hands and joined them together. Then we weave a rope over the top of hands binding us to a contract by the moon full light as we witness. All I needed for the contract mark to disappear was a drop of blood as proof the job was done. After the woman left the elder looked at with a gleam in their eye as they handed me my sacred object: a moonstone pendant. Something all shadow weavers had to help protect them from the sunlight’s rays during the day.
As the sun rose the next day I set out for the village near this Lord's land where my mark waited for me. However, in my heart I still felt that this was not right but how was I to turn against the way things have always been. How could I possibly go against my clan's wishes? I can’t really. I had no time to overthink this I had work to do. I needed to scope out the surrounding of the manor and make a plan of action. After all, I had to wait for the sun to set in order to make sure I was at full strength. But no amount of planning could have prepared me for what would actually happen that night.
As I made my way through the garden I saw the flicker of candlelight shining through the window. Making its way to the bottom floor and out the front door. I dash behind some bushes just as the door swings open out steps a young man. I could believe my eyes. What was he doing out here this time of night? But I have no time to dwell on the thought of humans, this would make my job so much easier. No time to lose I choose to stick to the shadow and follow him. He led me out to a meadow. Which luck would have it too, the one side the forest came right up to meet it. I was now very much intrigued by this man after all I had never seen one like him before. He was truly different than any man from my clan. His skin was pale yet looked as though it had been kissed by the sun at the same time. His hair was scarlet red and his eyes shined like emeraldas. No, wait what was I thinking after all I was sent here to kill him. But now that I have seen him in the moonlight my heart quickened and I earned to be closer to him. For his touch. For his lips. No, I couldn’t plus if he saw the monster that I am he would surely run.
