Friends are Important

Jess texted me at 10:30pm which was an hour and a half after I left, Austin was going to drop her off. Jess and Austin walked into my bedroom, I was watching one tree hill and drinking a banana and vanilla yogourt smoothie. "Hey, I thought for sure Lucas would have been with you" Jess says sitting down on the bed "No, I just wanted to be alone after what happened" I reply taking a drink. "I had a talk with Zack" Austin advises sitting on the bed next to Jess. I look at them "What did he have to say?" I asked. "He feels like Lucas is using you to get over his ex, or seeing how far he can get with you, I mean I don't blame him for being protective of you Sam you're his best friend, he doesn't want to see you get hurt" Austin replies, I take a deep breath "We are just friends, it would be different if we were dating or something, but we are not, I don't see why Zack is making a big deal about the whole thing." I said rubbing the sides of my temples. This whole thing was giving me a headache. "I think you and Zack should talk, alone." Austin replies standing up "I've known Luc for years, but I've also been friends with Zack longer his heart is in the right place Sam he will always look our for you" he replies giving me a smile. "Anyway, I should be getting back to Zacks, I'll see you girls tomorrow" giving Jess a kiss before walking out my bedroom door. I let out a sigh and lay my head on my pillow "It will be okay Sam, Zack just really cares about you" Jess says giving me smile "I know, but he can still be half decent to Lucas, it's not like he was being an ass to him or anything" I reply looking up to the ceiling. "Maybe he feels threatened or something" Jess replies giving a small laugh "Why would you say something like that?" I asked sitting up. "Well, have you seen the way he looks at you, you actually mean the world to him, if anything would happen to you, Zack would probably die" she replies. She was actually being serious. I shake my head and try to forget about it for now. "Let's watch more one tree hill" I said laying back down, "Yeah, sure" she replies nodding. Nothing more was said.

We woke up just after 9am, I wasn't feeling a big breakfast so went with cheerios cereal with a banana, Jess had the same."So, are you coming to Zacks tonight?" Jess asks "No, Lucas asked me to hangout tonight." I reply not looking up at her. "Oh, are you planning on talking to Zack anytime this weekend?" she replies I let out a small sigh "Yeah, I was going to text him later to see if he wanted to come over tomorrow" Jess smiles "Good, you know this will eat him alive if you both don't talk" "I know, I don't want this to drag on" I look at her and give her a smile, which she returns.

I dropped Jess off at her place just after 2pm, I got back home to see Zacks jeep sitting in my driveway, I was shocked but happy at the same time. I get out of my car to see him get out of his jeep I walked over to him "Hey, I wasn't expecting to see you here, I was actually going to text you later on" "Look Sam, I'm sorry about last night, no words can describe what was going through my head, I don't know him, nor do I really want to, but I can't choose who your friends with, and I never will but I will always be here for you" he replies making eye contact. I can't help but throwing my arms around him he hugs me back tightly. "Zack your my best friend, how you feel is important to me too, you don't have to be his friend, but try to be nicer" I said letting him go still making eye contact, he smiles at me "I'll try" "That's all I want" I reply returning the smile." I couldn't sleep last night knowing how it ended last night, so I had to come over but seen your car was gone, I figured you were driving Jess home so decided to wait"he says leaning against his driver door "Yeah, but since your here, did you want to hangout tomorrow just the two of us?" I asked looking at him. He looked shocked but happy at my question "Yeah, sure I'd like that" he replies. "Good, I won't be around tonight, Lucas asked me to hangout, but tomorrow I'm all yours" I tell him nudging his arm, which makes him smile. "Okay, that's fine, but I should probably go back down the road, I'll see you tomorrow" he said opening his door, and jumping into his jeep, the way he smiled at me made my heart skip a beat, he really is a better side of me.

I jumped into the shower, and started getting ready I had know idea what Lucas had planned so didn't really know what to wear I picked out a white and dark purple dressy shirt that was sleeveless with a black over shirt with sleeves, black dress pants,black flats for shoes, hair I decided to curl for a change with mousse and hairspray when it was wet. My mom opened my bedroom door "Hey dear, wow you look nice, where are you headed?" she asked I look at her "Hey mom, Lucas asked me to hangout know idea where we are going to be honest" I reply applying a cat line to my eye lid "You and Lucas eh?" she says smiling. "Not like you think mom, we are just friends" I reply now applying mascara. "Baby, I want you to have fun, enjoy life just always make sure to be careful" she says rubbing the top of my head "He seems nice, and really seems to like you" she adds before walking out of my bedroom I didn't say anything just gave her a smile. I looked at my self in the mirror I didn't know if I liked Lucas like that, I was having these weird feelings when we are together, things I've never felt before, but at the same time Zack meant so much to me I've also felt feelings that I haven't felt before  I was so confused.
