Chapter 13 The doctor examined Coop’s wound and said it was healing well, but cautioned him to keep taking the antibiotics until they were gone. “Don’t try to be all macho and act like you don’t need them. You do. As far as the pain pills go, that’s your choice.” Coop promised to be good. “Zane will make sure I am,” he said with a dry look at me. The doctor also said that I should have been keeping my ankle elevated and iced, but he agreed, with a laugh, that it would be hard to drive that way. “Where are you going now?” the doctor asked when he was finished. “That’s a good question,” I replied. “Cleveland,” Coop said without hesitation. “It should be safe enough now, with Tanner out of the picture. Even if any of his people give a damn, they don’t know it was us who took him out.”
