CHAPTER 5 - Welcoming Ceremony

    “Nova, my Angel, I’m going to go get cleaned up in my room. I think you should come so I know you’re safe.”

    He looked at me and nodded, and we went up to the second floor. I unlocked the door and let Nova walk in with me following and shutting the door behind myself and locking it.

    “Make yourself comfortable, I’m going to shower, Angel,” I told her, but she just stood there. “Angel?”

    “Oh, my goddess,” she said and climbed onto the bed, laying back and grabbing a pillow.

    I first went to my bag and grabbed a white t-shirt of mine and then went back out and took the pillow from her. I put the t-shirt on the pillow, and though it was big, it stayed on. Nova squealed and snatched the pillow, laying her head on it and wrapping her legs around it.

    “Thank you,” she said.

    “You’re welcome, Angel,” I said before going into the bathroom and shutting the door behind me.

    I turned on the shower and climbed in. I shut the curtain and began to clean up. I washed my body before shampooing my hair then rinsed it out. I washed my body a second time, just to be sure. I shut off the shower and got out, wrapping a towel around my waist after drying my hair. Then I brushed my teeth twice as well before drying the rest of my body off.

    It was then that I realized I had forgotten to bring my clothes in here. I opened the door a crack to see Nova passed out on the bed. I walk quietly over to my duffel bag and grab a pair of briefs, jeans, and a t-shirt and make my way back to the bathroom. I look again and Nova is still asleep, so I shut the bathroom door quietly and got dressed. I opened the door back up and go climb into bed, replacing the pillow with myself.

    Son. Son. Kane! Wake up. It’s almost noon, came my dad’s voice through the mind link.

    I blinked a few times before sitting up. Thanks, Dad, I replied. I glance at the clock in the room and see it’s 11:50.

    “Nova. Nova. Nova, wake up my Angel.” She stirred but fell back asleep. “Angel, wake up. Angel, baby, we have to go downstairs for the meet and greets.” I say, shaking her lightly.

    She blinked a few times then looked up at me. She groaned sleepily but sat up. I get up and pull her to me. “It’s almost over, my Angel.” I kiss the top of her head and help her stand up.

    We walk downstairs hand in hand and out to the front of the packhouse where we join my dad and Beta Jackson to the right of the porch.

    Each pack was spread out and slowly pack members start coming out of their houses and begin mingling with us. The Gammas decided to join our pack as they were the ones that fed Nova when they could. Of course, Dr. Viotto and his nurses joined us. Almost two thirds of the newborns joined us, and 45 Gibbous Moon members joined us as well. We had over 100 new pack members going back with us.

    Once everyone had chosen a pack, the Elders gathered on the stairs. Everyone stopped chattering and turned their attention to the Elders.

    “I, Elder Seth Simmons, hereby release you all from Gibbous Moon.”

    There were gasps of shock at the loss of their mind-link, but Elder Simmons cleared his throat. “Alpha’s, please accept your new members into your pack.”

    My dad turned to those that had decided to join us. “I, Alpha Kaiden Knightlock of the Blue Moon pack, hereby accept you into our pack.”

    They gasped as they felt the new links click into place. Then there were cheers all around us as everyone celebrated.

    “We will have charter buses brought to the territory within an hour. They will be labeled by packs. Please load your belongings and board the busses accordingly. You may go gather your belongings now,” he dismissed us.

    I took Nova back up to my room with me and packed my things. Right away, charter buses began arriving.

    “We’ll have to take you shopping tomorrow, Angel.”

    She nodded to me, and I threw my duffel bag over my shoulder and reached for her hand. We walked hand-in-hand downstairs and out to the busses. We stood there waiting with the rest of the new members for about 30 minutes. Finally, the buses to Blue Moon had arrived. I helped load belongings on the buses as the members climbed aboard. It took two full buses but everyone except Nova was loaded on and ready to go.

    “Nova, you’re riding with the ranked members.” I told her, and she followed me to the pack SUV. Alex drove, my dad sat up front, Beta Jackson sat in the middle, and Nova and I sat in the third row. We backed up in front of our buses and off we went, leading the way back to Blue Moon.

    I talked to Nova the whole way back. We stopped at a couple fast food places on the way back and she got to try it for the first time in more than 7 years. Night had long since fallen and Nova was asleep on my shoulder, so I closed my eyes and lay my head on hers.

    I was awoken by the sound of the bus brakes screeching and the SUV coming to a smooth stop.

    “Nova, Angel baby, wake up.” I shook her slightly and she looked out the window just as the sun peaked from over the packhouse.

    “Wha… this is the packhouse?!”

    “Yes, Angel, it is.”

    “It’s a mansion!”

    I smirked down at her, “Yes, Angel, it is,” I repeated.

    “It’s beautiful here!”

    “Thank you,” my dad said smoothly.

    “Alpha Kaiden, it is now 6:37 A.M. and we have arrived,” Alex said.

    “How many floors is it?”

    “Five. The first floor is the recreational areas. The second floor is the conference rooms. The third floor are the guest rooms. The fourth and fifth floor are off limits to non-ranked members."

    Her mouth gaped open. I turned to look to the porch and there was my mom, Beta Female Brielle, Gamma Drake, Gamma Female Samara, and my sister.

    “Come on, Angel, let’s meet my parents. They’re going to love you.”

    Alex opened the doors for all of us, and we climbed out.

    “What’s all this? And who’s this?” She asked, a smile spreading across her face when she saw Nova next to me.

    “Mom, this is Nova. She is my mate.” My sister squealed and my mother approached us slowly.

    “I’m Luna Kylie. It’s nice to meet you,” she held her hand out and Nova shook it, but my mom surprised her by kissing her hand.

    “And what about the buses?”

    “Gibbous Moon has been disbanded. But this is a conversation for the conference room,” my dad said.

    I motioned for the buses to open their doors, and everyone came piling out of them. They stood in awe of the packhouse.

    “Everyone, please, follow me,” my dad called out.

    “Yes, Alpha!” they replied in unison.

    They walked up the stairs while I took Nova to the elevator and rode up with her to the second floor where all the conference rooms are. The elevator doors open 

    “Mate!” I heard, and lead Delta female Kate ran to Dr. Viotto who opened his arms with a smile on his face.

    It was then that I realized quite a few new members had already found their mates as Nova and I walked into the conference room. I stood in front of my dad, with Nova to my right.

    Beta Jackson went and shut the door as the last of the new members came in and the meeting got underway.

    We explained everything in detail, from the newborns to Nova’s enslavement. To say the other ranked members were shocked is an understatement. They were also angry but relieved that those responsible were dead.

    “I’m hoping all of you newborns have been explained everything about our way of life?” my dad asked. They murmured yes, so my dad continued. “You know the laws of our kind, so let’s go over pack laws.” With that, he went over in finer details of the laws of our pack.

    “In a few days, we will be holding the Alpha and Luna ceremonies. From there, my son, your new Alpha and his Luna will choose the new Betas and Gammas, and eventually Deltas. Does anyone have any questions?” No one said anything. “Those that have found their mates will go back to their living arrangements with your respective mates. Those without mates will be shown to their newly renovated houses around the pack territory. We will hold a welcoming ceremony tonight at 7:00. I hope to see you all there. The Deltas will be showing you around and taking you to your new homes.”

    With that, all twelve Deltas entered the room and led away the new members without mates. Those with mates went with their respective mates.

    After the conference room was empty except for the ranked members, we disbursed. I decided to show Nova around the packhouse. Even though we had covered each level in the meeting, I wanted to show her the rec room and such. But first I showered her to our now temporary room. Once I took over the pack, we’d be moving into the Alpha suite, which is actually really an oversized apartment.

    “This… this is the temporary room?” she asked as we stood in the doorway while she gaped.

    “Yes, Angel. This is our room until we move into the Alpha suite after I take over.”

    She walked around the room and opened the closet door. She frowned when she did. “When can we go shopping?”

    “I thought you’d never ask!” my sister shouted from behind me.

    “Kris!” I scolded her.

    “Hey, I want to take my new sister-in-law shopping!” she exclaimed defensively.

    “Alright, alright, lets go shopping,” I sighed in defeat.

    Alex drove us to the closest mall, and I let the girls do their thing while I followed them around. Some things required a female anyways, so I was glad my sister was there – for example, finding the right panties and bras at Victoria Secret. Nova thankfully wasn’t interested in make-up like my sister was, so we didn’t spend much time at Sephora. We spent the most time in the clothing store while Nova checked out all kinds of clothing and decided on which style she liked before grabbing clothes to try on.

    “I would recommend going a couple sizes up since you still have to gain weight. We can buy you a belt. You can get shirts that fit you and some that are sizes up, as well.”

    “You will also need to buy some dresses,” I told Nova, and her nose scrunched up. “I know, Angel. But as the future Luna, you have to be presentable at events such as tonight.”

    She sighed in defeat, and we went back to the dress section. Kris helped her choose several different dresses.

    “This is too much. We’re spending a lot of money, Kris,” she said.

    “Oh, you haven’t told her, Kane?”

    “Told me what?” Nova asked, confused.

    “We’re rich. Like millions. We own many mechanic shops all across the continental US. Money is no issue, my dear Angel,” I answered, and her jaw dropped. She quickly recovered and they carried on with their shopping spree, finishing up in the shoe department before we headed to the Verizon store to get Nova her own phone.

    By the time they finished, it was already past lunch time.

    “Let’s just grab a quick bite to eat on the way back home, does that sound good, Nova?” I asked, and she nodded. Alex helped me carry the bags to the car and we loaded up the trunk before climbing in. We stopped at Chick-fil-A and got some food before making our way back home.

    We got back after 2, and Alex and I carried the bags up to our room. Nova and Kris got started cutting tags off everything and throwing it down our personal laundry chute. She kept a black semi-formal dress out to wear tonight. Kris left our room after that, promising to be back at 6:30 to help Nova get ready.

    “Let’s take a nap, angel,” I suggested to her.

    “That sounds amazing,” she said as she fell backwards onto the bed and gasped. “Oh, this is even more comfortable than the other bed,” she sighed. I climbed into bed with her and pulled her under the covers, and we drifted off to sleep.

    We were awakened by a knock at the door. I glanced at the clock and groaned. “Nova, time to get ready, Angel,” I said gently as I got up to let Kris in. Nova got up and took a quick shower. Then she came out of the bathroom, and I went in. Kris got to work while I took a shower and got ready. When I opened the bathroom door, my jaw dropped open before I gathered my composure.

    Nova was wearing the black semi-formal dress with her hair braided and pinned around her head and was wearing a little makeup, but it only accentuated her features.

    She looked me up and down and licked her lips seductively.

    “Alright, let’s get the party started!” Kris cheered and left us to ourselves.

    “You look… wow,” was all I could manage.

    “I could say the same about you,” she said, pulling me closer to her. I leaned down instinctively, brushing my lips against hers. She gasped and kissed me back, our mouths moving in sync. I broke away before things could get to heated, and she sighed in content.

    I took her hand and led her to the elevator, and we rode our way downstairs. When the doors opened, everyone stopped and watched us disembark the elevator and walk out to the stage in the courtyard. I made eye contact with my dad, and he nodded his head.

    “Alright, alright everyone!” he shouted, and immediately silence filled the air. “Tonight, we are gathered here to welcome our new members. Some are from Gibbous Moon, and some are newborns that the Gibbous Moon Alpha and Beta couples kidnapped as humans and turned into werewolves out of pure greed. Please take a moment to make them all feel welcomed here! Some of you may even find your mates and some already have!”

    Cheers and applause came from most of the pack in attendance. Nova saw Dr. Vi with the Lead Delta and led me over to them.

    “Dr. Vi!” I exclaimed and he stood up from the table to shake my hand and hug Nova.

    “Future Alpha Kane and Luna Nova, how are you?”

    “We’re good. How’d your first day here go?” I asked, looking pointedly at Kate.

    “Well, uh… how do I explain this. Kate is my second-chance mate. My first mate was killed in a rogue attack, as well as my daughter about 6 years back. I had resigned myself to being alone the rest of my life. I never thought I’d get a second chance, let alone that she’d be as beautiful as Kate. You see, I’m 42 years young, and Kate here is 33. She wants a family just as much as I do. She’s been waiting 33 years for her mate, and she finally found me. She doesn’t care that I had a mate before her, or a daughter for that matter.”

    I looked at Kate in the eyes and c****d my head to the side. Was I… could I really be sensing what I thought I was?

    “Alpha Kane, what’s going on? Why are you looking at Kate with that expression?”

    “I uh… I think she should see our OB, Dr. Reid tomorrow?” I said, but it came out as a question.

    “What do you mean?”

    “Well, you know I have powers, just like my Angel here. I have the ability to sense souls. And I’m not just sensing Kate’s soul right now.”

    “Wait, you’re telling me that you think she’s pregnant?”

    “I don’t know for sure, to be honest. But I think so.”

    He looked at me and then at Kate and that’s when I noticed their marks. “Babe!”

    Kate was looking at me like I had grown three heads and then her hand fluttered down to her abdomen protectively.

    “Damn, you’re good,” she said to Dr. Vi after several moments of silence. He grinned and pulled her into a hug.

    “I hope I’m right,” I said for their sake.

    “Me, too,” they both said together.
