CHAPTER 22 - Happy New Year!

*Kris’s P.O.V.*       We’d been driving for about two-and-a-half hours when the SUV slowed, and we turned down a narrow gravel and dirt road in the middle of the mountains. Kai and I had talked the whole ride here, but now I was staring out the windows in awe.      Although I lived in the mountains in Tennessee, the mountains here were gorgeous in their own, different way.     The trees were vastly different than in Tennessee. There were some similar ones, such as the Bitter-Nut Hickory, Black Oak, and White Walnuts. But there were so many new ones that I didn’t think I’d ever learn the names of them to be able to recognize them just by looking.     For instance, I pointed to one and Kai told me it was an American Elm. By far my favorite so far was the American Sycamore, though.
