The car that brought us parked at a shopping center in the town, one I had seen briefly before but had never entered. It was the largest shopping center in the town and, at that time of the morning, it was bustling with people. Despite feeling protected walking alongside my mother, I felt as if something had changed in her, and suddenly she didn't seem as phenomenal as she did just moments ago. Although she remained a very beautiful woman, and her dress made her stand out from the common clothing the rest of us mortals wore, she no longer possessed that aura of divinity that had accompanied her until the moment we got out of the car.
