I took a leave on the day of my son’s math competition. I didn’t really have to be there, but I wanted to support my son, and I was so proud of him that I didn’t want to miss this moment. I almost did not want to come when I found out that the competition was going to be held at Paul’s hotel. My love for my son was stronger than my pride, though, so I ended up going.
Jericho rode the bus with the other competitors and their advisers/teachers. I went to the hotel by myself and waited in the lobby. When Leo texted me where the competition was going to be, I stood up and headed to the elevator. The competition will be held in the conference hall on the fifth floor.
I got on the elevator with a few other passengers. It stopped at the third floor, and Elaine, my former boss
