I sat quietly and waited for Matthew to speak. I did not know how to begin the conversation, and I was hoping that he did.
After a few seconds of quietly sitting and looking awkwardly at each other, Matthew asked, "How are you feeling?"
Jessica: "I'm feeling okay. I'm technically on bed rest, but it's just something the doctor agreed to appease my mom."
Matthew: "I'm glad you're feeling better."
I smiled and didn't say anything. Matthew looked calm, and I felt the calmness envelop me too.
