"The unexpected visit to the library"
Linge'r had just finished the practical at the lab and couldn't wait to get home. In as much as she has a thing for science, she loved arts and everything about writing and calligraphy painting.
Her parents often prohibited her from visiting the library because instead of reading science textbooks and workbooks she spent her whole time reading novels.
Jiang Medical and Science College is unarguably one of the best Science School in Beijing.
Linge'r was able to attend the school because Tang San her father is the Chief Surgeon at Jiang High Hospital.
Linge'r was more famous for her father's wealth rather than her fascinating beauty, charisma and loudmouth.
" heyy Linge'r you rushing home so early today? aren't you coming with us to Gao's Granny's restaurant? Gao is treating us all to a meal."
Rang rang a fellow student and Linge'r's desk mate asked
" uhhh... I wasn't pre informed and I have readied my schedule already" Linge'r replied whilst packing her textbooks into her bag pack.
" ohh, but Qian Qian dropped a message in the school group chat last night" Rang rang pursued further.
" i was vlogging on Reddit all through the night, I didn't use my WeChat. You don't know? there are alot of foreigners on Reddit, who knows i can make cool friends there." Linge'r said with a smirk.
"Rang rang don't pursue this further, some other time I'd hang out With y'all. Bye bye" Linge'r added as she rushed down the stairs.
" Mama I'm back"
" Linge'r you came early today, what about Rang rang?" Mrs Yue, Linge'r's mom asked wiping her palms with a napkin.
" they're going for a dinner date, I'm not interested" Linge'r responded. Her mom gave her a surprised look
" mama aaa, I said I wasn't interested. im famished I need food"
" right, I was making noodles before you came in, go freshen up and come to the dining" Mrs Yue replied as she returns to the kitchen.
Back in her room, Linge'r goes through her phone there was a notification, Shimming's latest work, "Vengeance of white tiger" was officially out.
Shimming is a popular writer in this side of Beijing, and though he's not the best in Town, he was Linge'r's favorite writer.
" Where am I going to get the novel from now... it'd be do expensive because it just dropped" Linge'r sobbed as she dropped into her sofa.
She sets her tripod, ring light and everything she uses in making her contents on the internet.
" Hiii worldddd it's Tang Linge'r againnn....."
Her mom interrupted her video, so she left it unedited, " food is more important " she thought as she followed her mom down the stairs so she can have her meal.
Later same day, Linge'r decides to ride her bicycle to the nearest mall to get her facial care kits, the sun and late nights were already giving her dark circles she hated the most. Of course she's a media personality, what will happen if her fans saw her in reality and can't recognize her because of the dark tyres around her eyes. Crazy.
With her headset plugged into her ears, riding recklessly yet again, Singing to Lisa's Rockstar she didn't know when she rode into her grandma.
" Linge'r, what rubbish are you doing again" Granny screamed at her.
" Búyó, it wasn't intentional nana" ( nana is the Chinese form of saying granny)
" You're becoming reckless every passing day" granny retorted as she dusts her clothes
" I'm sorry nana, please don't tell mom and dad what happened please please " Linge'r sobbed making a pitiable face for her granny.
Granny smirks, and started walking away, leaving the fresh vegetables behind. Linge'r got the memo, carried the bag of veggies into her bicycle and rode along granny as they headed for her uncle's house.
Mr Tang Hao was surprised to receive Linge'r, he is the elder brother to Mr Tang San.
Tang Hao is a complete contrast of Tang San. While Tang San is a Surgeon who believes Science rules the world, Tang Hao is a Calligrapher, he has a large collection of books and poems. Somehow Linge'r wishes Tang Hao was her dad because she loved books as well.
"Ge'r, you are here."
" of course she is here, you won't believe what this little version of Tang San did to me. I was coming back from the mall and she..."
" nana didn't you say you were tired and needed massage " Linge'r cuts in , in an attempt to interrupt Granny's tale. Because Granny would have gone on and on narrating to Tang Hao and Tang Hao will in turn call Mrs Yue to tell her what the little disastrous Ge'r has done again, Mrs Yue will start weeping and being dramatic and when Tang San asks she'd go on a yapping spree telling him how she's tired of Linge'r's chaotic altitude bla bla bla.
Linge'r wasn't ready for the American Hollywood show so she cut granny out.
Tang Hao invited her into his chamber as he bragged on and on about his calligraphy while granny prepared dinner.
It was all laughter upon laughter during and after dinner till it was time for Linge'r to go home.
" make sure you greet your parents for me , and Tell Tang San that science isn't taking the world anytime soon" Tang Hao said to Linge'r and they burst out laughing.
" nana take care of yourself and don't stress too much" Linge'r said as she hugged her granny.
" youuu. argh, I'm always taking care of myself, you are the reason i need medications now" Granny replied.
They bade Linge'r goodbye as she went to the garden where she parked her bicycle.
She saw a little hall in the middle of the garden, there was light shining from inside.
Could it be her Uncle's famous Book collection?
Linge'r tiptoed to the Hall, the door opened as she came closer, "wow" she told herself.
The Shelves were wooden and the books were neatly arranged. There was a reading cabinet, a Soft sofa and beautiful Lampshade.
Linge'r shuffled through the numerous books taking every single book she felt was interesting.
on her way out she fell down flat. Her tummy rumbled and she managed to get back on her feet.
A book fell from the shelf
" Silly ass book, why must you fall now huh, want to give me more works.. i hate you alr.." she paused as she stared at the book
" Vengeance of white tiger!" she exclaimed.
" no no no, I shouldn't shout " she muttered.
She ran her hands through the book to make sure she wasn't hallucinating.
" How did Uncle get the book so fast?" she pondered.
She walked to the reading cabinet, opened the Cupboard close to it, there were a pack full of snacks
She took a packet of chocolates and relaxed herself. Ready to read!
" I'd definitely be the first person to give a review from this district, hopefully Shimming will recognize me now for being his top fan" Linge'r said to herself and smiled.
Meanwhile Mrs Yue have been trying Linge'r's GSM number, it wasn't connecting. She called the mall to ask if they saw a girl around 19 years of age, wearing a grey coloured hoodie and black sweatpants with her hair adorned with a purple bow.
The Customer service said no, and went ahead to surf through the CCTV footage of the day and still couldn't see any person with Mrs Yue's description.
Tang San was on duty that night so he wouldn't be home, Mrs Yue must carry out the search herself.
She ran out of the house asking the neighbors and all who cared to listen if they saw Linge'r.
After several minutes of searching her phone beeped. It was a missed call from Tang Hao.
" Tang Hao? why is he calling" Yue wondered
She called back.
" Hello Brother Hao, it's been ages."
" Yue, how're you doing, you know everytime i called I ended up arguing with San about Science."
" look at you, that's the favorite part of your brotherhood" Yue said " I'm looking for Linge'r" she added.
" Ge'r? She left here some hours ago" Hao replied. " She visited earlier, you know what continue the search, I and Granny would search around here also"
" if there's no positive result in the next few hours, San says I should report to the Police " Yue said, her voice was already trembling.
" I know Ge'r she wouldn't wander faraway, she must be in some safe space." Hao reassured her before ending the call.
Linge'r was having a good time im the hall, she had rode her bicycle into the hall earlier on so no one can find a trace of her. Locked the door and was apparently enjoying herself.
From her face you could tell she was mad at the storyline
" why does she have to go through all that ?" Linge'r questioned nobody in particular
She complained and complained while reading
The lights went off, as she made attempt to stand up and go turn them on again the book generated a fascinating light, Linge'r was scared and confused at same time.
The light shone greatly on her , and she could feel herself slipping into the warmth of the light.
