Marsha said, “We’ve never been properly introduced. I’m Marsha Jefferson,” and stuck her hand out. “James Reid,” said Reid as he shook Marsha’s hand. Reid noticed she was smiling like the cat who swallowed the canary. “Robert Ashton,” the two shook hands. “William Jacoby,” and shook hands with Reid. Reid said, “I need to get back to the sheriff’s office,” then left. When he was out of ear shot, Marsha started laughing. “What’s so funny?” asked Jacoby. “There were no Marines,” then she turned and walked away. Retired Secret Service Agent Dean Gilmore was in Los Angeles. He made a phone call. He was calling Ron McIntyre, another retired agent in Colquitt, Georgia. When McIntyre answered the phone, he heard a voice he hadn’t heard in almost a year. “You going?” asked Gilmore. “Where?
