A
t midnight Colonel Jenkins and Sergeant Washington were dropped off by Washington’s Father. They headed west for an hour, parallel with the county line.
“This is a good vantage point, you stay here. I’ll go a couple of miles further west,” said Colonel Jenkins.
“Yes Sir, I believe this is where we stopped with the deputy.”
“It is. At noon we will move a few miles further west.”
“Yes Sir.”
Then the Colonel moved on.
At five o’clock FBI Agents Martin and Wainwright were dropped off at the same location Secret Service Agents Simpson and Wilcox were left. At six the four men huddled for an update.
“The lights were turned off at eleven. We haven’t seen anyone,” said Simpson.
“The car will pick you up at seven,” said Martin.
