Chapter 37 Adrian’s POV Lara fell asleep twenty-three minutes after asking me to stay. Not that I was counting. I sat quietly in the chair near her bed, watching the slow rise and fall of her breathing while the city lights reflected faintly through the windows behind us.She looked peaceful asleep. Too peaceful for someone whose entire life had been turned upside down in less than a week. A small frown occasionally appeared on her face even in her sleep, like fear was still following her into her dreams. And every single time I noticed it, something twisted painfully inside my chest. I looked away. Because this was getting dangerous. Not Rafael. Not the threats. Not even the fact that someone was hunting her because of me. No. This was dangerous. The way I couldn’t leave her side.
