Episode 3: The Short Visit

601 Words
3.1 Anya’s POV I can't stop thinking about Kai. It's been a week since our blind date, and he hasn't contacted me. I know I shouldn't be so hung up on him, but I can't help it. He is everything I've ever wanted in a man: handsome, charming, and kind. I sigh heavily and try to clear my mind. I need to focus on school and my friends, but it's no use. All I can think about is Kai. I tie my hair in a high ponytail and get ready for school. Adela, my best friend, Viktor, my childhood friend, beta of the pack and currently the bodyguard appointed by my dad since my overbearing ex-boyfriend made things difficult after our breakup. They are already waiting for me in the kitchen. "Hey," Adela says. "You look like you've been thinking about something heavy." I sigh. "I can't stop thinking about Kai," I say. "He hasn't called me since our date, and I'm starting to think he's not interested." "Don't be silly," Viktor says. "Of course he's interested. He wouldn't have come with you if he wasn't." "I don't know," I say. "Maybe he just felt sorry for me." "Please," Adela says. "Kai is a catch. He could have any girl he wanted. He wouldn't waste his time with someone he wasn't interested in." I smile weakly. "I hope you're right," I say. We go to school, and I try to focus on my classes, but it's hard. I keep checking my phone for a message from Kai, but there's nothing. After school, I meet Adela and Viktor at the parking lot. Viktor is supposed to give me a ride home, but he has to run an errand first. "I'll wait for you here," I say. I sit down on a bench and start to read a book. A few minutes later, I look up and see a black Mercedes pull up in front of me. Kai steps out of the car, and I can't help but stare. He is so handsome; he looks like a model advertising Mercedes straight out of a magazine cover. Adela gives me an encouraging smile and leaves us alone. “Anya," he says. "I'm in the area and thought I'd see if you wanted a ride home." I can't believe it. Kai is here. He is actually here. I stand up and smile. "I'd love a ride," I say. We get in the car, and Kai drives me home. We talk the whole way, and I feel like I'm finally able to relax. When we get to my house, Kai walks me to the door. "I'm so glad I saw you today," he says. "I've been thinking about you a lot." I smile. "Me too," I say. "I'd like to see you again," he says. "Can I take you out this weekend?" I nod. "I'd love that," I say. He smiles and leans in to kiss my cheek goodnight. I close my eyes and savor the moment. When he pulls away, I blush and say, "I'll see you Saturday." "I can't wait," he says. He gets back in the car and drives away. I watch him go, feeling happy and excited. I can't wait to see him again. I go inside and text Adela and Viktor the good news. They are both thrilled for me. "I told you he was interested," Adela replies. "I'm so happy for you," Viktor says. "I knew you two would be perfect for each other." I send smiley face with. "Thanks, I'm so glad I have you two as my friends."
