"Would you want to experience the sweetest part of me, Ameelah?" Darmiel reiterated his question while his naughty eyes were looking at Ameelah, not batting a bit.
Ameelah’s face grows even redder. She could not hide her blushing. “I don’t want to answer that now, Darmiel. You are too fast and to be honest, you are making me feel awkward. Let us drink our coffee and converse casually. Stop flirting, Darmiel!”
Once again, she heard his sudden burst of laughter. “Was I flirting? Ameelah, I was not flirting. I am a friendly and sweet person. I am me, like this,” Darmiel said while opening his arms as he said his last words.
“I see. So you are sweet and friendly with every woman you meet?” With a raised eyebrow, Ameelah retorted. She seemed displeased.
“Nope. My sweetness and friendliness have different types of levels of course. If you think I am overly sweet now and friendly with you, it is because I like you at the onset that I saw you Ameelah.” He is such a very frank and straightforward person and he does not want some playing around the bush.
Ameelah looked at him in complete awe. She was smitten by his frankness and straightforwardness although she felt quite awkward.
“I, I like your frankness Darmiel but it made me feel so awkward and in doubt. Should I believe you at this instant?” Ameelah asked while she peered into him with her doubting eyes. She wonders if what Darmiel said was all lip service to impress her or to get whatever he wanted from her.
Hurt suddenly crossed the well-sculptured face of Darmiel. He drink into the sadness that enveloped him when he learned Ameelah’s doubt on his intentions toward her. He then said in a low yet firm tone. “I won’t convince you to believe me, Ameelah. It is up to you to judge me and my ways. Knowing your doubts in my intentions hurts me, yet it will not be a reason for me to stop pursuing you from this day onwards until you will finally say yes to me.”
“I am sorry if I felt you hurt or may be offended Darmiel. I am a frank person too. I won’t hide what I feel,” she retorted, her firmness never fading.
Darmiel nodded and smiled. “I understand Ameelah. It will be much better for both of us. We will easily understand each other and I can tell that we will get along well.”
Ameelah smiled back as she lifted her mug of coffee from the table and put it in front of her nose, sniffing its aroma. It is her habit actually. She felt relaxed whenever she do this then let the aroma of the coffee fill her nostrils.
Darmiel was looking at her with a bewildered expression. He finds her cute and amusing. She is like a little kid who suddenly sniffed a waffle while her Mom is in the kitchen preparing it for her. She even closed her eyes and sniffed the coffee’s aroma more.
When Ameelah opened her eyes, she saw the amused look of Darmiel. He grinned at her and then lifted his cup of coffee, mimicking what she did a while ago. He could mimic her perfectly and she could not control herself when she burst into laughter.
“You are funny,” she said still with laughter.
“And you are amusing,” he retorted as he put down his cup of coffee. He was grinning at her in a lively mood.
They were both became engrossed with each others’ antics and laughter.
When they went out of the cafeteria, Darmiel was already holding her hand, without any intention of letting her go, even if she resisted for a moment. But when she side glanced at him and saw his mesmerizing smile, she smiled back and did not attempt anymore to take back her hand.
“Hmm, Ameelah, would you want to watch a movie with me, just in case you don’t have any further plans for this afternoon,” suddenly Darmiel stopped walking and asked, making Ameelah halt too and shot him with a hesitant look.
“Please? I promise to be a gentleman inside the movie house. I won’t do anything that you will not like, Ameelah, if that is what makes you hesitant to accept my invitation,” he said again trying to pacify my doubt and to convince me.
“Darmiel, can we take this, one step at a time? Maybe, it is better if we can watch a movie next time?” She could not look at him as doing so would definitely make her change her decision. She does not want him to have an expression that she is an easy girl; that he could have her as fast as the appearance and disappearance of a rainbow. No, she will not let herself go down to such an extent. Darmiel should be patient. He should wait and if his intentions to her are true and sincere, he will surely understand her and wait for her to agree one day.
Darmiel made a deep breath yet nodded in agreement to Ameelah’s suggestion. “If you think it will be much better that way, then I will abide, Ameelah. I don’t want you to think and feel like I am rushing you into things. I can wait Ameelah until you decide to trust me fully.”
Ameelah’s eyes suddenly lit up. It was as if Darmiel was able to capture what was in her mind a second ago. She could feel the chemistry between them and the connection. Ameelah’s heart jump in awe.
She swung their hands with a smile and looked at him. “Thank you, Darmiel. You made me trust you more for not insisting,” she said to him and she noticed how his eyes sparkled as she said those words.
“Anything that you would like, Ameelah, as long as I can still do it, I will,” he vowed as he kissed her hand and bowed her head like a real gentleman.
Ameelah giggled and did not mind at all if Darmiel would see her swooning over him.
Watching her giggled and look at him with such a tender and admiring look, Darmiel’s brain suddenly shouted. “Just a few more days, Ameelah… just a few more days and you will completely surrender to my charms.”
