The darkness swallowed him when the door closed behind him with a soft thud. Nick tried to turn on his exterior suit lamps but they didn’t come on. His heart skipped a beat. Oh, oh, I may have made a mistake.
When the ceiling lights suddenly flicked on, his visor darkened immediately to protect his eyes. He moved one hand up to add to the shade effect of shielding his eyes so he could see his surroundings. He blinked and saw another open door had appeared in the room. This time it was an airlock. The door was made of plasti-steel and had a rubberized seal running around the edge of the oval-shaped door. On both sides was a wheel locking mechanism to help the operator seal themselves inside before atmosphere was added.
