Gears fired the main battery as soon as the attacking vessel came within range.
The enemy ship’s shields glowed on Nick’s right side screen, then it shot away, the sublight engines having engaged when the wave of blaster energy contacted their shields.
Curious, thought Nick. “Gears, can we keep up with them?”
“No problem, Captain.”
Nick had rerouted the sensor reports from the sensor officer’s station to the screen to his left in the copilot’s workstation. He studied the sensor readings until they were once again within blaster cannon range of the enemy vessel. “Gears, hold your fire,” he instructed the tech genius.
“But, sir, we can disable them.”
Nick glanced at Gears. “Yes, we can, but it wouldn’t be a fair fight.
