Nick studied the image of the decimated, so-called Planet of Doom on the center screen of the copilot’s station. The rust-red continents, separated by blackened scars that were all that remained of long ago dried-up bodies of water, were visible under enhanced magnification.
According to the Kid’s sensor readings, the decimation of the surface was due to centuries of massive earthquakes and enormous volcanoes that erupted, spewing lakes of burning lava, destroying all life that once thrived on the surface of this world. Choking clouds of noxious gasses spewed into the atmosphere and blocked sunlight from the system’s G-type star ensuring life wouldn’t take hold any time soon, or maybe ever again.
