Bones released his rifle, and since it was tethered to his environmental suit, it swung to his side as he rushed to grab the Kid before he fell. Bones wrapped an arm around the Kid’s waist and threw the Kid’s arm over his shoulder. He then helped him to a spot near the wall. Nick eased the wounded man to the tunnel floor. The Kid winced as he settled on the floor.
Bones shifted his gaze to Nick. His eyes contained raw fear, something Nick had never seen in the big man. “It’s gonna be okay, Bones,” Nick whispered.
