Siren moved to untie Lal, who sucked air into his lungs after the gag was removed. “Thank you,” he gasped as she managed to untie the last of the restraints from his legs.
“How long have you been here?” asked Nick.
Lal shook his head and winced. “I’m not sure. The last thing I recall before waking up here was the sound of footsteps coming up behind me in my office and then nothing. The next thing I heard was your voices.”
