“Colonel,” Nick said, turning to face the dusky-skinned naval officer. “I imagine your orders include securing the energy field?”
The Colonel nodded.
“The readings indicating that it was here were faked. Someone did all this to capture the energy field that was stolen by these aliens. But it isn’t here anymore.” His eyes narrowed. “And I have no idea where it is.”
