I was finally leaving the hospital, it was already Monday. Liam had been adamant about not explaining what has changed not to stress me, and I was feeling hesitant about the whole situation. Of course, I wanted to be with him, I unquestionably knew who my heart belonged to. But I still needed to know. I still needed to understand why he would let me go beyond the point of no return, beyond the line separating lust from love, far beyond just temptation. He insisted on taking me back to his apartment as his men were more comfortable guarding it then my own house since they’ve done it before. I still don’t know why the hell we needed protection in the first place, but even so, I conceded. The years I’ve endured of verbal and psychological abuse made physical abuse much easier to overcome.
