Astrid stared out the large windows, wishing she could open the glass and breathe in the cool evening air. It had been a week since Raiden's departure and though the room she'd been given was spacious, she found it unbearably suffocating. Despite that, however, she would've chosen to keep her window closed at night, even if it hadn't been spelled shut. Because as the moon rose, so did the monsters. Horrific screams echoed in and around the castle every night, laughter echoed through the shadows, and shapes moved outside her window.
