Meridia's icy blue eyes darkened as Astrid told her story, watchful gaze never leaving the young woman's face. As the tale finished, she leaned forward to scrutinize Astrid's face. "So what's your plan now?" she asked briskly.
Astrid took a deep breath. "I need to close the gates. It's the only way to save Raiden."
Meridia's eyes narrowed as she processed the information. There was no hint of surprise on her face, leading Astrid to believe that her words had not come as a shock to the general. She stayed silent, heart pounding in her chest as she awaited Meridia's response. Whether it was positive or negative, Astrid's plan remained the same. But having the support would make everything much easier.
