PLEASANCE PACED BESIDE the ragged semi-circle of cop cars, lights still flashing wildly into the night. She’d kept the blanket they’d thrown over her, wrapped tightly around her shoulders. Her body seemed unable to get warm on its own. As the minutes and hours ticked by she’d grown increasingly more terrified that Alfric wouldn’t come out of ‘Big John’ as she’d heard several locals call the building, unharmed and alive. She’d seen the Hazardous Materials van arrive an hour earlier and, while the flow of people being evacuated from the building had finally stopped a while back, there’d been no sign of Alfric or the law enforcement team he had with him.
