Chapter 3: Mate

Thalia's POV I froze. Not just my body but my soul too. Did I hear her right? Sold off? Terror seeped through my veins as the thought of her words being true crossed my mind. No way, she couldn't have sold me off. Something was definitely wrong somewhere. Instead of giving me the clarity she needed, she continued. “You will set out with them today" She stated. “No need to take anything with you. Just go with them." With who? What was she talking about? It felt like my head was going to explode from the barricade of questions popping up. “Did you hear me, Thalia?" She raised her voice, jolting me out of my thoughts. “I…I don't understand” I voiced out, my voice shaky. “You don't understand what?!" Madame Lilith snapped. “The Alpha of the Bluemoon pack specifically requested to have you taken to his kingdom. You don't expect me to disobey an Alpha's order, do you?" The Alpha of the Bluemoon pack? Impossible! As isolated as I was, I still knew little about psychopathic and tyrannic Alpha of the Bluemoon pack - Aiden Wolfe. An Alpha who owned an harem in his territory and sucks the blood of women he slept with. No way. Why the hell would he want someone as wretched as me? I was damn sure I wasn't as good as the maids working for him. “Madame Lilith, you must have made a mistake" I argued cautiously. “It must be someone else." “Tch..not now, Thalia" Madame Lilith warned, gritting her teeth. “You're leaving with them and that's final." “Enough of this" The man in the room snapped, walking to the exit. “My guards will come for her now." The moment he stepped out, I fell on my knees and placed my forehead on the cold floor. "Please, don't sell me off” I cried out, ignoring the pain in my forehead. "I promise to work harder to pay off my debts. I just need more time." Madame Lilith let out a wicked laughter, her eyes glistening with malice. "You don't need to work for me anymore, Thalia. That man you saw is the Alpha's beta and he already paid off your debt with gold coins. You're free now.” Free? That wasn't freedom. She had just sold me to the devil himself. I begged till my voice ceased, but she didn't change her mind. I shivered, sneezing consecutively as I knelt before her. It was pointless and we both knew that. Few moments passed before the door opened again. I heard heavy footsteps followed by Madame Lilith's selfish voice. “You can take her” She stated. My head snapped up to see two strange wolf guards staring down at me with hard faces. One of them held chains. It seemed they didn't plan on making things easy for me. I had exhausted every ounce of energy I had left. I couldn't even scream or throw tantrums. The wolf guard with the chain tied me up and carried me, placing me on his shoulders. I kept my swollen eyes fixed on Madame Lilith, my heart hoping she would change her mind at the last moment. She didn't. She sold me off without batting an eyelid. “Place her in the other carriage" I heard a man say. Their voices became distant as I slowly succumbed to the darkness pulling me in. I had a terrible nightmare. I saw myself running away from a strange man. He had blood in his mouth, his fangs long and sharp. No matter how hard I ran, I couldn't escape his reach. I woke up breathing heavily as the horse's neigh pierced my ears. I suddenly remember how I got into the moving carriage, a feeling of hopelessness washing over me. One thing was clear now - I was bound to spend the rest of my life working as a slave. But I assured myself of one thing - one day. Just one day, the torment will end. Even if it's by death. I finally placed my focus on the two wolf guards sitting on my sides. They ignored me totally, fixing their eyes on the windows. Suddenly, the carriage stopped moving. The guards jumped out, one of them pulling me off the carriage. “Can you walk?" He questioned. I shook my head, my lips sealed. I guessed my wobbling legs said it all. He carried me towards a huge black metallic gate guarded by hundreds of wolf guards. It was dark, but the guards held torches. Surprisingly, the gate before us was raised. Slowly, my tired eyes beheld the magnificence of the gigantic castle hiding behind the towering gate. It was better than the tales. It seemed only those who had seen it could tell. I saw a man approach us. It was the same man Madame Lilith called the Alpha's Beta. “We're taking her to the Alpha's chamber. Our Lord wants to see her" He stated, throwing me a quick glance. The man obeyed, heading towards another gate. I was too tired to do anything. I had silently accepted my fate. Another gate opened, revealing a larger castle behind it. I was absolutely dumbfounded by the mind-blowing sight. Who builds a territory like this? Unfortunately, I couldn't admire the place for long. The guard increased his pace, trying to meet up with the Alpha's beta. My heart raced as I pictured how the Alpha king would look like. Maybe like the monster in my dreams or an ancient man with beards or a short dwarf. I couldn't tell. We halted before another door guarded by two wolves. “Open up" The Beta ordered. The sight I beheld was breathtaking. The walls; everything was literally screaming luxury. I hadn't seen gold or diamonds in my life, but I could guess from the battalion of artifacts lined up. Strangely, the maids and guards lurking around began to the hall. It became empty with just me, the beta and the guard holding me. At that moment, a strong sweet smell hit me hard and my eyes settled on the door beside the golden throne. Suddenly, a black-haired man with a gorgeous face stepped out, his aura enveloping the entire space. His steps were captivating and his looks intimidating. I could tell who he was already - Alpha Wolfe of the Bluemoon pack. The cold and tyrannic Alpha rumored to be the strongest and oldest werewolf in the world. “Make her kneel" The Beta ordered, and instantly, I was brought to my knees. I didn't fight back as I tried to assemble my thoughts together. Something was wrong. The urge to run into his arms was strong, but his deathly stare was stronger. I felt a disturbance in the pit of my stomach. The hair on my body stood up as I gasped for breath. Unexpectedly, I uttered the sacred word. “Mate."
