Chapter 14 IT WAS WITH SOME GRIM DISPLEASURE THAT Collingwood drove to Maxton Street Police Station to take possession of Sinistrari and Avram on charges of murder. Macrae was displeased – extremely displeased – at having to give up the prisoner who had murdered one of his officers. And Collingwood had some sympathy; in similar circumstances he would have been annoyed. Nevertheless, the Crucifixion Murders took precedence – and for all his anger and bluster – Macrae had to accept that.
