Present. … Dianna took a deep breath, she steadied her trembling self as she stared at the mansion she once called home, somewhere that have been her solace four years ago but not anymore. She shouldn't be here, she had vowed never to come back but… “Your father, the Alpha is dead.” Her father's Beta had told her. “What!” She responded in shock clearly not expecting this type of news. “Your father has always wanted you back, he misses you dearly and since you wouldn't entertain any of his letters, he had written that his soul would only be at peace if you perform the funeral rites.” He tells her. Her father's Beta had shown up at her door one day and she had wanted to ignore him but he had informed her that her father had died, her heart broke, guilt hit in the heart. Though the man had not even given her a chance to talk or even listened to her pleas, he disowned her and threw her out not caring that been a rejected mate she needed his care and attention, he left her alone to navigate her life situation. Tears pulled up in her eyes remembering what she passed through in the first one year she was away, Dianna looked heavenwards and blinked back her tears … No! She wouldn't cry, she had grown pass this, she had put all this behind her. “Dianna,” She calls herself softly “You are fine now.” She pulled up a smile and patted her chest gently. With both deep inhale and exhale, she started her walk towards the mansion, holding firmly the invitation in her hand. She jingled the bell of her arrival and waited for the door to open. “The Alpha's first daughter who would be performing the funeral rites has arrive, all raise for Dianna D’ell.” The herald made the announcement as the door slowly opened. Everyone was on their feet, Dianna didn't let her eyes wander, she looked straight ahead and took her steps with great confidence and grace. “Wow! She so beautiful!.” “Four years away made her a beautiful rich woman.” “Do you know ahe is now a famous seamstress of the eastern clan.” “See her dress! So beautiful!” Silent comments made the rounds. Dianna only smiled as she walked away, she had invested in herself and told herself several times that no matter what she wouldn't be the same Dianna they once knew. Standing before the casket and staring at her dead father, she broke into tears, though she hated that he didn't give her a chance to speak to him nor did he care for her when she was rejected but over these years she couldn't bring herself to hate him. “My lady?” An Alpha called, she wiped her tears before looking at him “It's time for the rite, are you ready?” She nodded and they began. … “No, thank you, I won't be waiting for any other events.” Dianna tells the head of the helpers politely, the latter nodded and walked away. She was done with what she came for, she had prayed to the goddess and ease her guilt, she had forgiven her father, everything was done now she would be on her way. Taking one look around, she stood up from her seat and was about walking away when someone towering over her halted her actions. “So you won't wait for my coronation?” He asked as he eyed her from her head to her toe, the lust sprinkled with hatred in his eyes. Dianna closed her eyes briefly, she doesn't want this, she doesn't want to talk with them. “No, Zander, No,” She replied looking up at her stepbrother who had grown taller and quite muscular, she would have added that he looked good and puberty had done it's best to him, but on her qualification of good-looking, Zander didn't qualify, he is just as vicious as his mother. “And why is that, Dee.” He asked emphasizing on the nickname her father had always called her with so much love, she frowned. “It's Lady D’ell to you Zander.” He chuckled called mockingly “Lady?” Dianna clueched her fists, she knew what was next. “Are you mated already, oh, the information might not have reached us here, is he here? please show him to me, Lady.” “And how is that any of your business?” She asked cooly betraying the turnado building up in her. He smirked “Well,” He stated as he walked, circling her “Maybe I just wanted to know who the miserable wolf would turn out to be, taking the remains of the Alpha King.” He stopped his movement and lowered his face to hers, their faces inches apart. Dianna took a step back “I still don't see how that is any of your damn business Zander.” He tuts “Take it easy on my name, it should be Alpha Zander to you, dear.” Dianna ignored him and tries to move pass him but he had her wrist “Get your hands off me!” She snapped hitting his hand away from hers. “Ouch!” He winch faking that he was in pain, she hissed “It’s so bad I wasn't around four years ago, I would have saved you.” Zander had gone to training, the ones made for the Alpha's heir, the ones next to the throne where they were taught on managing the throne and combat. “Save me?” Dianna asked, confused skated her face but one look at her stepbrother’s face made her sick to her stomach because he was staring at her, his lower lip caught between his teeth, lust was screaming on his face. “I would have with my…” he trailed off as his eyes fixated on his loins, his hand palming it “You would have been one of those to make up my harem.” “You are disgusting!” She spat. He laughs and the sound of it made her more sick and disgusted “Anyways, the offer is opened to you anytime my lady.” He whispered to her ears. “Honey?” Someone called, earning both their attention, a beautiful lady stood before them, she eyed Dianna in pure disgust, “You shouldn't be with her,” she says quietly to Zander as she locked her hands with his “Pleasure meeting you, I'm Alsa, Alpha Zander’s mate.” She said emphasizing on the word ‘mate’. Dianna only rolled her eyes. Alsa gasped, “I was being nice and she just rolled her eyes on me, how rude!” She huffed, Dianna hissed and made her way pass them but her ears caught the words Alsa whispered “Such waste of beauty, the Alpha King’s waste.” Tears brimmed her eyes but she hold it in and hurries out of the hall, she was about to push the door opened when it opened itself startling her and making her miss her steps falling into firm strong hands, her head against firm strong chest. “Are you alright?” The all too familiar voice which always had her giddy even now, asked as he steadied the lady in his arms. Dianna looked up at him, their eyes bored each other's, time seems to stop, everything seems to disappear leaving them alone in the hall minutes passes they both kept staring at each other, each lost in their worlds. “My lord!” Someone yells pulling them out of their worlds and roughly pushing Dianna, “Are you alright?” Helena asked holding the Alpha King's hand, he nodded at her, his eyes still on Dianna. With anger Helena turned to Dianna “Please watch where you are going,” She hissed “You should have left the moment you came.” “Exactly my concern.” Her stepmother emerges from behind “You are done with the rites, so please leave.” “I was about-” “Mama, who's bullying you?” A childish voice, trembling with anger, cut through the air. All eyes turned to the source of the outburst, and a collective gasp of surprise, shock, and horror rippled through the hall. Dianna froze.
