Chapter 2:

Aubrey He stood there, not moving an inch, silence slowly enveloping the room. My heart raced, everything I rehearsed to say to him disappeared within a second. He stood in the doorway with authority. His eyes flicked over my body with resentment, as if he hated my existence. “You’re awake,” He said roughly, his voice was void of compassion. I nodded slowly, unsure of what to say. “How are you?” He asked, taking gentle steps towards me. I felt heartbroken. After everything he did to me, the only thing he could say was asking about my well-being, he killed my baby. “I lost the baby,” I gently whispered, tears slowly gathering in my eyes. I never knew the baby I knew nothing about until today miscarrying could hurt this bad. Maybe if I had told Alexander that was caring for his child, he might have loved me more. But now, I am losing my husband and I lost my baby. He blinked once, then twice, probably short of words. His jaw tightened and he ran his hand through his rough jet black hair. “You were pregnant?” He managed to say after a while but as much as he hid it, amazement was still evident in his voice. “And you killed it,” I said through gritted teeth. “You shouldn’t have gotten pregnant in the first place, I thought you used contraceptives? We could have gotten rid of it even before the pack's doctor knew.” His voice held no pity and his eyes glimmered wickedly. I couldn’t breathe. Did I hear him well? We were going to kill the baby even if it wasn’t miscarried. My throat tightened and I was short of words, he was a monster to me, treating me like an outcast, as if he has never loved me his entire lifetime. “What?” I gulped, blinking in confusion, while trying to process what he said. “Aubrey, how many times will I have to tell you that you don’t deserve to carry my heir, Brianna does.” His lips formed a smirk and his voice seemed soft after mentioning her name. I clenched the bed sheet, my knuckles turned white, “So that’s it? You push me, I lose our baby, and you...what? Blame me for carrying our child?” He stepped closer, lowering his face to mine so that I could feel his breath and masculine scent, I froze. His voice grew colder, “Stop causing a scene, you’ve embarrassed me enough.” I yelled at the top of my voice, my wolf growling inside me, but there was nothing she could do, she was just as weak as I am, “So what am I to you, Alex? A joke?” He scoffed, “I never asked for any of this. Not the child. Not the marriage. And most importantly, you. You wanted all of this Aubrey, you forced your way into my life even when you knew I never loved you, and now you want sympathy? You must be a joker.” His voice held disdain with a little hint of mockery. His words hit me harder than the wall ever did. It felt like something sharp pierced through my heart. I felt more tears welled up, but I swallowed them. I don't want to cry. not this time. Not in front of him. I bit my lower lip hard, shutting my eyes close and opening them almost immediately, “I stood by you when no one else did. When Brianna left you, I stayed, I believed in you.” He raised his right hand, “Enough. You don’t deserve to mention her name from that filthy mouth of yours.” I couldn’t believe my ears, biting my lower lips harder. “Say her name again or threaten her and I wouldn’t hesitate tossing you out of the pack.” Then he smirked evilly. “Alexander please,” I begged, “You know I have nowhere to go. I have no one else aside from you.” Tears were threatening to fall but I didn't want to show him how weak I was. Ignoring what I said, he turned towards the door, “I’ve said everything I came to say.” “Just like that? You’re going?” My voice cracked in disappointment. I was thinking he'd stay a little longer. He paused, looked over his shoulder with a cold demeanor, “You should rest because you’ll need it. The omegas will bring you something to eat. I have more important matters to attend to.” And then he left without waiting for my response. His last sentence somewhat held mockery. The door clicked shut, and the moment I was sure he was gone, the hot tears I’ve been keeping within me rushed like a flood with no control. Alex has said hurtful things to me for the past three years of getting married to him, but this was the worst one yet. It was like I was nothing but a substitute, filling the blank space of Brianna Ashford, and the moment she came back, I was tossed away like nobody. My heart was shattered into a thousand pieces but I couldn't walk away from him, no matter how much I tried. The door creaked again. This time around, I didn't bother checking who it was, I thought it would be one of the omegas coming in with the food like she said. I didn’t care about the food, nothing mattered to me right now, I wouldn’t be able to eat anything even if I tried. But then, I heard another set of footsteps. Heavy, poise and confident. The omega’s soft voice broke the silence that enveloped the room for minutes now, “Luna, your mea-” Her voice stopped halfway when she heard a masculine voice. “You, take me to your Alpha now,” His voice held confidence, authority and ruggedness. Ashley howled inside me, ecstatic to see who this person was. Ashley whimpered inside me, a strange mix of longing and familiarity pulsing through her, what was happening? I lifted my head slowly in exhaustion, curiosity brewing within me. And that’s when I saw him. He wasn’t dressed like one of us, and I haven’t seen him around either, that means, he doesn’t belong to this pack. His clothes were darker; raven black tailored pants and a two unbuttoned shirt that revealed his muscular chest. A scar cut diagonally across his right brow, but instead of it ruining his face, he looked more rugged and I couldn’t just get my eyes off his face. “Y-yes mas-master.” The omega stammered and left the room. He looked at me for a brief second and I felt something, something strange that I can't even explain. He gave me a curt nod and followed the Omega.
