Daniel looked at me after saying his name with a look of amusement in his eyes, I have to say it was sexy as hell. My inner horn dog was barking maddly up a tree right now. i had to tell myself calm down, girl. Daniel pointed to take a seat in front of his desk, “please take a seat," he said. “We have a meeting Monday night. It's moved till tomorrow night at the Seagull Hotel with new clients from Indiana. I think this would be a good start for you to see how the company works, but I want you to look over the proposal and marketing strategies. If you have any comments or points, please bring them forward.” He informs me. Before I could speak, I couldn't help but think this was my first day, or have I been here for years? And just woke up out of a state of amnesia, I thought.
Before he reached across the table with a file in his hand. I took the file and got up to leave the office. "One more thing, Miss Patterson." i turned to look at him, and he said “thank you.” I actually think I'm drooling. After the look on his face when he said thank you. All I could do was smile.
Well, F***ng blow me down with a feather. The boy does have manners. Now let's show him what you can do. I got stuck into the work and made notes and graphs, colour typos, and fonts from the company for a new brewery and distillery for Homebrewed Gins and Indiana ciders. I was so busy that I didn't even hear Lacey call me. “EM” she shouted. “What” I jumped “it's lunchtime. I've been calling you for 30 minutes now. I thought you were asleep,” she smiled. I didn't realize I was so hungry.
I went down to the canteen on the 4th floor to see roisin and Sinead sitting talking to four guys. At the end of the table, I grabbed a sandwich and an apple enjoying them.”Hi, there you are. We've been here for 30 minutes. Where have you been” Roisin asked, I said “Working. Believe it or not?” I smiled. They laughed and then turned to the group of cute guys at the table. “You guys, this is EM. “ Sinead announced.
They all replied at once.” Hi there, Em.” OK, you girls find yourself a boy band, I thought. “ Alright, lads,” I replied. “Oh man, that accent is so hot.” Said one of the lads with a sexy wink to me. Boke, I thought. You were good looking before you did that, you perv laughing to myself. “So you sound different than these irish lasses, are you Scottish?” asked one of the other lads, “No. I'm from Northern Ireland, just up the road from these lovely ladies.” I smiled “So you're not from Ireland,” he asked. What a d**k do your homework, mate. “ Yes, we are just different governments, same beautiful country and people.” I said, trying not to sound so sarcastic. “OK, so you ladies want to go sightseeing with us guys this weekend.” The one who winked at me asked. Roisin and Sinead said, “Sure why not” together. I had to ask. Where were the in-house rules here?
“So guys, are you all going to be our tour guide and maybe take us for some drinks. Maybe cuppa Field.. wink wink.” I winked while saying it. With sarcasm. They all smiled while nudging each other like a pack of 15 year olds. These guys weren't men. They were f**** boys. “So do the company policy on in-house relationship and office affairs not apply to you guys because I'm working for the CEO, Mr. OConnell, Im his PA at the minute and I had to go over the rules this morning and as much as I like breaking rules, I don't think us dating or doing stuff like that on her first week would go down to well. Would you agree?” I said it with so much sarcasm and authority in my tone. Their faces all dropped. When I had pointed out who I was working for. Obviously, they got the wind up them as they got up and said that they had forgotten that they were busy this week and maybe catch up next week. I
laughed out loud, and Sinead and Roisin were livid. "What the f*** are you at EM?" They simultaneously said these two were more like every minute. "Come on, girls, they were f*****g arseholes. It's day one, Let's not give all our candy away too fast." They laughed and agreed that they were bunch of d***s. Sean came over to us." Hi ladies, how's it going?" He greeted us. With his kisses and hugs, Sean told us that he was living with dumb di**. It turns out that they're a couple, but can't tell anyone 'cause of the in-house policy. I thought they couldn't be more perfect for each other. So Sean had a two bedroom apartment with them, all good. They kept themselves to themselves. He was working on the 18th. in purchases. He is loving it. So far.
He then told us that six blocks from where we work was an Irish bar called Mc Flanigans it served Irish food and wasn't overly expensive. Result, I thought, first up after work. Being at Wednesday night. It was midweek drinking. And to celebrate the first day. "Whos Up for it, after work. We will go check it out, " I asked. Roisin said she would come to babysit. But don't get used to it. They all went back to work. I had 30 minutes extra on my own. So, I took the moment to take selfies and update my social media.
When I returned to work, I put all my efforts into the folder Daniel gave me, and before I knew it, it was 5:30 PM. Daniel was leaving his office and looked at me, still writing down notes for the new clients. "No home to go to," he asked. "s**t, what time is it?" I said aloud, I was to meet everyone at 5:45. And seeing it was half past, panic over, I took a deep breath. "All done." I said while getting up from my seat.
I got up from my desk, and I headed to the office door. Daniel stopped as I closed over the door. He handed me a key.” Please don't lose this key. As Whats in your office is confidential and private”. I took the key and looked at the door. thinking that I am not the best person for keeping keys. I locked the door. And without even thinking or caring, I took the bra strap from the side of my top and looped the key through the ring in my bra. Daniel's face was a picture. I didn't realize he was still standing there. I just smiled. He closed his mouth in shock. I laughed at his reaction. Remember, nothing fazes me. We walked towards the elevator. Lacey was packing up her desk. She looked up at us and smiled and looked strangely at Daniel. He was a bit red in the face. I hope I didn't F*** him off again.
Lacey looks confused. And then so did I. Daniel realized we were staring at him. He said goodnight and entered the left. Lacey asked "well how was your first day." I answered her. "It was like I have been here for years." I smiled. "Is that a good thing or a bad thing?" she asked."I must say it's a good thing, considering I insulted the boss, his staff, four guys at lunch, and I think I have redesigned a new product label. Not a bad start, I think." She smiled at me and asked,"Em, what was that you done to Daniel before he left?"Oh," I smiled. "I flashed him my bra." She looked so shocked I burst out laughing. Then I showed her the key looped on my bra strap. She just laughed out loud, too.
We went into the elevator together. I got off on the ground floor. Lacey went on to the basement to where her car was parked in the underground carpark. I got out the main entrance and must say I felt so normal walking out the front door like I have been doing this forever. My new friends were waiting for me outside. Near the road. "Yo b**** over here," shouted Sean, who was getting sassier every minute.
Us ladies had removed our shoes and replaced them with black pumps. The sigh of relief as we put our feet onto the ground was like a hum. We walk six blocks to Mc flanigan's bar. The place looked like every traditional Irish pub you've ever seen. There were your all-day drinkers. There were your regulars. And then there were all your foreign immigrants that all swear to have Irish heritage. Mickey Mc Flannigan was the owner. He had an Irish father and American mother. But now, in his 50s, he never had been to Ireland but claimed to be every bit of Irish. Just like most Irish descendants that immigrated to America over the last 100 years. Mickey put me in mind of a gangster with his broad New York accent and his love for placing bets on the baseball matches. We were fresh Irish meat, and there was nothing more I like to do was to correct people on the Irish and Northern Irish way of our accent and language. Mickey was loving it. He knew the craic as I slagging him about his baseball on the TV was so American. He quickly told me. "When you own the bar, you can put whatever the **** you want on, but just so happens I own it so tough Titty's, is that how you like to say it." The man was a gag. He kept us entertained all night.
After a bottle and a half of wine to myself, I couldn't tell you what the rest had didn't care. Roisin ordered us an Uber to take us home. Good thinking Batman, I thought Roisin was a godsend. She babysat us three drunken bitches and got us all home.
The next morning I woke up with banging on the door. "What the f*** mum, I'm up". I thought. I opened my eyes and saw a bush of red hair in my face, trying to recall last night. It's only day two, and I'm already in bed with Sinead. Trust me. Bang Bang, "I'm coming." I shout. When I opened the door Roisin, she was standing fresh as paint with a fresh cup of coffee in her hand. "You too drunken bitches better move your a**. It's nearly seven". "f******** f**** f*** get the f*** out of my bed and go and get ready. We Have to leave in 30 minutes". I shouted it at Sinead as she rolled out of my bed, walked pass Roisin, and took her coffee of her without a word and leaves to go upstairs to her flat. I jumped in the shower, grab my dove deodorant and body moisturizer. Throwing it all over my body to dry out the smell of wine that was seeping through my pores. i brushed my teeth and tongue three times. Being hungover was not new to me, but on Day 2 on the job, I really could do better. Within 30 minutes, I was showered, brushed, and dressed. Roisin made me toast while I put some makeup on. We headed out the door to find Sinead standing in the hallway, looking at her phone. "You alright, Mrs". I ask. "Yeah, just looking at last night pics. Who the f*** is this d***** shown up on all these pictures on my phone. " She showed me the phone. As we made our way to work, even I couldn't remember who this guy was in half a dozen pictures on her phone. "Oh, that's Paddy. He's from the falls road in Belfast. Lives here for the last two years on the run from the RAH he claims. " We all looked at Roisin, who said over our shoulders, which made us burst out laughing. Thank goodness for sober friends. I never forget a thing.
