The next morning, Isabella got ready and went to the dining room, where Beatrice, Tony, and Leo were waiting.
“Isabella, you have to hide until Liam’s car is in the air. When he starts retreating, reveal yourself and go after him.” Isabella nodded as she picked up some fruit. She ate while Beatrice and Tony went over calculations for the drive. Isabella checked the time: 7:45 AM.
“I think,” she said, “that we should start driving now. Do you know where he is?” Beatrice nodded. They left the dining room and went into the car. Tony started the car and they departed from the Oasis.
A few moments later, Tony parked the car at a mall parking lot.
“We’ll have to walk the rest of the way. Liam will probably recognize this car,” Tony said. They unpacked the car, taking out their bows, swords, and quivers. Isabella and Leo led the way, walking behind a bush and crouching down. There they saw a small white car with what looked like jetpacks on each side. Next to it, Liam was talking to two of his bodyguards. He glanced at his watch and smiled. Liam got into his car and started the engine while a few of his servants did a couple of maintenance checks. Isabella took a deep breath. This was her chance to finally stop Liam.
“Don’t worry, Isa. I believe in you. Don’t overthink it. Just focus on the thought that if we stop Liam, you can find your brothers and Rose.” Isabella looked into Leo’s beautiful brown eyes and smelled the faint scent of cinnamon. He tilted his head and leaned gently into hers as their lips softly touched. The smell of cinnamon was stronger now. She wrapped her arms around Leo’s neck and brushed her fingers through his soft hair.
“Sorry to interrupt, but Liam is almost ready,” she said, blushing. Isabella pulled away from Leo and saw a giant axe being loaded into the passenger seat of the flying car. The servant who put the axe in the car quickly backed away as Liam flipped a switch in his car. The car hovered in the air for a few seconds, and then began to rapidly fly into the sky. Isabella emerged from the bush, letting go of Leo’s hand. She rooted herself into the ground and focused on George and Tim. She focused on finding and rescuing Rose. Despite this, her team was trying to hold back Liam’s servants, and they were very loud and distracting.
Luckily, Isabella’s mind blocked them out, and without having to think, she bolted into the sky after Liam. Liam looked into his side mirror and panicked, punching a button in his car. It accelerated faster but Isabella soon caught up with him. Liam grabbed his axe and swung at her, but Isabella easily dodged. Out of nowhere, he threw a basketball at her, but she caught it.
“You missed,” she said, preparing to throw it at the car.
“Are you sure?” Liam said, swinging his axe and hitting her in the arm. She felt herself falling, but before she went far, she threw the basketball at Liam’s car, landing in between pipes. The car stopped rising and instead started to fall. Isabella felt a chill as she hit a cold cloud. She turned her head and saw the ground flying rapidly towards her. She saw Leo running to catch her, but he wouldn’t be there in time. She tried to fly to stop herself from hitting the concrete but she knew it was no use. Isabella saw Beatrice and Tony running towards her. She locked eyes with Leo, who was pale from terror. Isabella tried to smile at him, but she hit the concrete with such force that a small crater was created in the street, causing commotion in the road.
Leo caught up to her, and let out a sob. Isabella was laying in a pool of blood. Her arm had a deep cut that was still bleeding. Her face was a mess of blood and dust. Leo took out a roll of gauze and wrapped her arm in it. Tony and Beatrice arrived just as Leo finished wrapping the cast.
“We have to get her to the Oasis. Now,” Leo said, gently picking her up. They ran to the car and started driving to the Oasis. As they drove, Leo observed Isabella. Her breathing was minimal. Her eyes were closed and she was motionless. Blood was starting to soak through the bandages. Leo took a cloth and carefully wiped Isabella’s face of dirt and blood.
When they arrived at the Oasis, Leo took Isabella from the car and followed Beatrice upstairs, where she led them to a hospital room. Leo laid Isabella in bed as Beatrice checked her vitals. After a couple of calculations, she stared at the screen.
“Oh, my God,” she muttered. Leo tried to read the screen, but he wasn’t used to modern technology.
“What?” he asked. Beatrice looked at him in desperation.
“She’s in a deep coma.”
