Chapter 15: Dreams > Reality

1317 Words

Leena stood outside of her house with the moonlight turning the world around her a somber gray color. She felt glued to her spot in the front yard, though she couldn't tell if she didn't want to move or she wasn't able to. She just watched her house from the outside until a light came on in the living room, drawing her attention to the big bay window at the front. Inside, she could see Brian pacing back and forth, holding a phone to his ear. She had thought that the moonlight was what painted everything gray, but even with the light on, Brian was colorless. It was like watching a silent film. She saw that his mouth was moving, and his body moved in jerky motions, his expression shifting from anger to worry to frustration. Brian hung up the phone and began to rummage through her things.
