Chapter- 7 Episode- 9 It will come around Jim and Reeve were back to their place, sitting washing off the tiring day they had. Jim was doing what relaxed him, that was doing his work. Just having his gadgets with him, relaxes him a lot. But on the other hand, Reeve was listening to some song from his dad’s cassettes. They were brothers but one lived in the present, surrounding himself with gadgets and technology while the other still is a fan of old badass rock and metal. They were like the opposite ends of the spectrum. Suddenly, maybe something went off in Jim, that he had a thought. He went to Jim and said, “Jim do you think we are kicking on the wrong field?” from his sudden question, of course, Jim got confused, he has been collecting every record about that place, but suddenly to think that they might be knocking on the wrong door, he will feel that way. “What do you mean?” he couldn’t help but ask. “I mean, we have looked through almost everything we could find in the police records about the place, about the owners or the places near it, but there is nothing much on it that we can put our fingers on. So maybe there isn’t any.” He tried putting his thoughts in words. “But we know that five individuals have been killed there. Maybe one of them is haunting the place. This is the thing we can put our fingers on.” Jim reasoned against his brother’s statement. “Ya, but don’t you think it is too late to start the haunting now?” Reeve again said. “What do you wanna say?” Jim asked clearly. “See, that old mafia killed his family in that place decades ago, but there was no noticeable supernatural in that house after that, no one died there since then either, the killings started just a month ago. I mean if the ghost is from back then, then the place would have become one of the most haunted places in the history of this town.” “You do have a point, but we can’t ignore the fact that they were the only one on the records. And sometimes ghosts take years to have enough power to haunt places. Even poltergeists need years to gain the power to knock things off their shelves. And here we are talking about malevolent spirits. It could take decades for that much power.” Jim said, he knows how spirit works, and in this case the occurrences like flickering light and cold spots they all point out to a malevolent spirit. A soul can be a vicious spirit after hanging on this world for too long or if they died a horrible death. “Okay so we will take it into the possibility of being the reasons being the killings, but we have to look for other things too. you know the building was abandoned for years; nobody knows what had happened at that time. Maybe there is something we have missed, or something happened there but is not in the official records.” Reeve said. “Okay, so what are you thinking?” Jim asked for his opinion. “maybe we should go and check out the place ourselves,” Reeve said. “We have done it already,” Jim spoke. “Yeah, we did, but there were too many peeps there and you know police can’t do its job like that,” Reeve added. “Uh... huh. As if we are the real cops. You get too into the character.” Jim commented. “that is the beauty of this job.” Reeve said and Jim added, “You know going there just the two of us, without a warrant, which we absolutely cannot get, can get us into trouble. It will be breaking and the place has some really good security.” Jim said in an informative tone like his brother didn’t know it already. “I have a really good plan for that. We will just have to wait for me to prepare for it.” Reeve said. “Okay, if you are so confident. But if we get caught, we will have multiple charges on us, for forged badges, breaking, and fraud. You know how long we will have to be behind the bars for that.” Jim said a bit worried. He knew the police will never believe that they were actually trying to help. “Don’t think of too far off. I am here, I’ll manage if the things go wrong.” Reeve reassured. “Start the prep. How long will it take?” Jim asked to which Jim plainly answered, “A day at least.” - - - - - - - - - - It was almost dinner time and as always Reeve needed his fuel, he can go long without food. So, they went to a place nearby to grab their supper. “What do you wanna eat?” Reeve asked his brother while holding the menu card in his hands, eyes busy choosing what to eat to curb the hunger. “Nothing I'm fine.” Jim said making Reeve look away from the menu and at him, and he asked, “You sure? You’re not hungry?” “Yeah!” he said and went back to reading a book. He is always busy with something. The waitress came to take their orders. “I’ll have a chicken salad and a beer.” Reeve said “anything else?” the waitress asked. “no that will be all,” Reeve replied. “Right away,” she said and walked away. And soon she brought the food and beer in her had and put it on the table and said, “Here, enjoy.” And left right after. Reeve started devouring through his food when suddenly a voice claimed their undivided attention. “aren’t you guys working on the invisible murder case?” they saw the same waitress standing there. “Yes, we are, how did you know that?” Jim asked. “I work there after my shift ends here; the pay is good there.” She answered and after an awkward pause she added, “I saw you two with the manager the other day you were asking him questions about the murders.” She told them. “Did you get anything about the murderer?” she asked again. “No, not yet,” Jim answered. “Actually, you might not believe me, cops don’t believe in this stuff, it is kind of unreal, I didn’t believe in it earlier until I experienced it. I don’t usually talk about this but I think you should know.” She said not sure whether to say any further or not. “Tell us…. We’ll believe you.” Reeve assured her. “There are rumors in the town that before the place was reconstructed as a club, the owner of it was a mobster and after he died the place went in the possession of his illegitimate son, no one knows about him. And after him to his son who is in some mafia gang, he used this place to bring girls there, like a brothel or something. He was rich so he didn’t have to force them, they agreed on their own. But when a girl refused to sleep with him, he kidnapped her and kept her bounded in that house forcefully. The girl was poor, his parents reported her missing, but police never did anything to find her. Even all her records were deleted as if she never existed. They shut down her parent’s voices. People say that she died after being r***d and abused there for weeks and now her soul is trapped in her place. I’ve heard screaming and some weird noises from there, but ever since the club has gotten underway, the screams have been weighted down by the loud music. It is not so easy to hear it now.” She told them all she knew. “Do you know anything else about the girl?” Jim asked. “Does it mean that you believe in my nonsense? Everyone said that it is a total BS?” she questioned. “We believe you,” Reeve assured. “I don’t know much about her but I know her parent had been kicked out of the town for digging too much into her disappearance. No one knows what had happened to them.” She answered. “Okay, thanks for helping us out. It might help us.” They both thanked her and to it she replied, “Yeah sure, anytime. I am glad that you believed my words,” and left. “Do you think this girl could be the malevolent spirit haunting the club?” Jim said. “We better find out.” Reeve responded and started chowing down his food quickly.
