Chapter- 6 Episode- 6 This ain't over “hey, you guys are here. I was worried that you might have left the town.” Juliane came to greet them, she was wearing a beautiful cobalt blue and turquoise gown she looked eye pleasingly beautiful, her blond hair was dancing with the wind and the makeup looked just right on her. “How is Lily doing?” Jim asked Juliane, Reeve was wearing a washed denim with yellow and pink striped t-shirt and a black leather jacket, completing the look with sneakers. His hair was neatly styled, no one can tell from the way he looked that he hasn’t been sleeping and eating nicely for some days. The clothes suited his tall frame, but on the other hand, his brother, was equally as breath-taking as he was. He was pairing his outfit with off-white denim and turquoise high neck, full-sleeved hoodie, and cream converse completing his look with gelled hair combed backward, enhancing his green eyes. He had a gift in his hand wrapped in red with a green bow on it. “she is a lot better thanks to you guys. A little week but the doctor said she will be fine in no time as long as she is regular with her meds.” Juliane told them. “it’s good that we didn’t leave yet, we can see her before we leave this way.” Reeve commented and added, “can we see her?” “yes, of course, I’ll call her just a second,” Juliane said and called her daughter who was playing with her friends showing her cute smile. Her eye bags looked better than before, she looked like she has gotten a lot better in just two days. “Lily, darling come here.” Hearing her mom calling, Lily came running to her, then Juliane again added, “Meet my friends, he is Jim and his name is Reeve.” She introduced them to the little girl. “They are your friends? Wow, mom, they are so handsome, even more than dad.” She innocently praised their good looks, smiling, making her mom laugh at her comment. “see the kids are always honest,” Reeve commented winking at his brother. They both laughed. “happy birthday sweetheart, how is your wound now?” Jim said to the girl lowering his body to give her the present and his wishes. “thank you, Jim, but how did you know that I hurt myself.” She asked with her adorable and big moon-like eyes. “darling when you were sick uncle Jim and Reeve looked after you and helped you get better.” Her mom said patting her head with affection and a little sadness reminiscing the time. “really! Two handsome guys looked after me, Andrea will be so jealous if she sees you. Thank you, uncle Reeve and Jim. I give you the biggest slice of the cake.” She said and ran away to get the cake. “hey your daughter is adorable, it’s good that she is now better,” Reeve said to her. “thanks to you guys, I don’t know how to thank you enough. She is like this because of you.” Juliane expressed her gratitude. “Juliane, one minute please.” A lady equally dressed came to take Juliane away for a chat. “oh Mrs. Peter, just a second.” Juliane said and excused herself for a minute saying, “I'll be right back boys, help yourselves.” “don’t worry about us,” Reeve said in reply to her. The boys were standing there looking at people enjoying the food when Lily brought them cake and said, “I bought the prettiest slice for you, please enjoy the cake.” And ran away again before they could thank her. “huh… all this feels good,” Jim said sighing. “what this birthday?” Reeve questioned. “Yeah, I don’t remember celebrating our birthdays like this. Lily must be ecstatic.” Jim spoke having a small bite from the delicious cake. “it’s better that we didn’t have all this. this stuff suffocates me.” his words came out wobbly as his mouth was stuffed with cake. “what these things? ‘the normal stuff’?” said Jim with eyebrows furrowed. “I don’t feel good thinking about it, why be normal when you can be awesome, right?” Reeve said munching. “being normal is fun too, you are just used to this life that we live. Normal is good to live long.” Jim responded elegantly eating his cake slice. “our work is dangerous sometimes but it has its own perks too. don’t ya think?” Reeve said. “like?” Jim said with wide-opened eyes. “like? Dude, we are f*****g superheroes man. Don’t you see? We saved so many people and they are thankful to us for giving them a new life. Don’t you feel proud looking at Lily playing and smiling, calling us handsome, and talking about her friends like a normal happy kid? This is what a superhero does, help people by staying in the shadow themselves.” Reeve spoke out his view. “you know what you are right, I am very happy right now seeing Lily recuperating so fast. I am proud of this work but sometimes I think what we would be like if our parents were still alive and we were just normal.” Jim said when a voice suddenly interrupted them. “Jim Reeve, can you come here for a second?” Juliane called for them. “let’s go Mr. superhero. Your friend is calling us.” Jim commented and went there putting their plates down on a table nearby. “Reeve, my friend the one who called me, Livia Peter, she is a police detective, she told me something about her neighbor’s son,” Juliane told them with a serious tone. “what are you talking about? Is something wrong?” Jim said. “she lives two blocks from here, she said that the son of her neighbor died yesterday.” She replied. “What happened to him?” Reeve asked. “something that seemed similar to what happened to Lily. He was also weirdly behaving and went into a coma the day before he died.” She told them, thinking about what might have happened to her daughter if not for them. “what? Are you serious?” Jim said shocked. “you can talk to her. She is right there.” She told them, where she was standing. They went to the lady to talk with her. “excuse me, Mrs. Peter?” Jim said. “yes?” she said out. “yes, I am a friend of Juliane and we work in a hospital in the city. Can we ask you something?” Jim said politely, at which she nodded in a yes. “she told us about a young boy who died here yesterday, he was your neighbor, what do you know about him? Do you know anything?” he added. “you are guys doctors?” she asked them. “yes, we are new interns there; we are new in this town. Can you tell us about him?” Reeve said. “not just him doctor, but two other kids died too. around the same age, they were all similar to each other in the pattern of their death.” She told them. “what were those symptoms?” Reeve questioned. “Why are you so interested in it? It shouldn’t be your concern I think.” She asked. “actually detective, a few days ago two officers from the disease control department came to the hospital, they said that a disease is suspected to be spread across the city that is fatal for young kids, it reconstructs the ability of their to psychology to think and behave differently and soon their health started deteriorating.” “seems like the symptoms they are exhibiting.” She asked shocked. The boys answered her with a yes. “what can be done about it?” she asked again. “We are looking into the possible causes of prevention. The CDC must have some cure, don’t worry.” Jim said and they excused themselves from her. - - - - - - - - - - - - “Julie, I think we will have to leave now, it is all starting again,” Reeve said as they went to talk to her. “what? What do you mean?” she asked. “don’t worry about us. Just look after Lily, make sure she is not alone for the time being. Call us if you need any help.” Jim said as they take their leave. “okay sure, take care.” She farewelled. They were walking out from the party when suddenly Reeve noticed something weird in the place. “Hey, Jim look there.” Reeve pointed out to their garden. “what?” Jim said trying to figure out what his brother was pointing at. “don’t you see that thing in the garden?” Reeve asked. “ya, that’s a garden decoration,” Jim told him. “no, I don’t think so, I wasn’t there just yesterday, and look there the same thing is there too,” Reeve said pointing at the neighbor’s lawn. Jim looked in both of its direction and said, “you are right, let’s see what that thing is.” “let’s go and see what this is,” Reeve commented. The garden of those houses had a beautiful ring-like shape, which looked like it was made from beautiful flowers, they were glowy and vibrant colored and small white mushrooms. The flowers were pink, purple, yellow, and blue and they had a little sparkle in them which was reflecting with the sun. They look too pretty to be real, nothing like this they have ever seen before, but when seeing it from near and touching it you will see that it is in fact real. It was a ring made from such a flower that doesn’t exist in this world, or at least it had been seen before. “I know what this is,” Reeve spoke out. “what?” Reeve asked curiously. “This thing is called a fairy ring.” He answered. “They sprout up at a place where fairy lives. It is said to be an indication like an address for fairies; a fairy can trace another fairy with this. And according to the ancient lore I've read about this, they are dangerous and is a stroke of bad luck for the humans who gets inside them. Crossing it will also do bad to you. Fairies take it very seriously when they got messed with by humans. Wait it can be looked upon the internet too. It is something being talked about even in the movies and novels many times. They just had a different interpretation of it, they show it as a circle of mushroom and fungus and it is a good thing to have one in your garden. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
