Chapter – 8 Episode – 8 Only the truth 11:30 pm, a week ago. Stillwater, Minnesota, “‘O veritas, parakaloumen se, thespizein hemin hronon ton mellonta…’ ‘O veritas, parakaloumen se, thespizein hemin hronon ton mellonta…’ ‘O veritas, parakaloumen se, thespizein hemin hronon ton mellonta…’” from a faraway a chant can be heard. The voice was low and consistent, still, it weights it, a power, an attraction to it like gravity, it has authority in it. The room was dark, nothing can be seen or heard in that darkness, but the chant, a slow but continuous voice. It was a woman one can tell by the voice, a woman with power in her voice. The room smelled like burning flowers, it was pungent. In that suffocating room, she was still so consistent and devoted, it was unbelievable. The darkness suddenly decreased as the woman lit a candle spreading the light in the dark place. She enlightens three more candles. Soon after the room started smelling like summer. It was a young woman, barely in her thirties, dark hair and clothes were like of any other girl you will see walking down the road. She was sitting inside a pentagram, a sigil painted in red. Her eyes were closed, the body still, just her lips were moving, like she was reciting a poem not caring about the darkness that was surrounding her minutes ago. Slowly she opened her eye, turning her head to her right she picked a knife from the ground in soft motions. The knife was small but its sharp edges can be seen even in that dim light. Putting the sharp edge, she pierced it through her palm. The pain was immense but she didn’t flinch a bit like the knife didn’t touch her skin. Drops of blood were visible on her palm when she fisted her hand and stretched it straight in front of her and squeezed it visibly hard getting a slow stream of blood to fall on a box that was right under her fist on the ground. The fall of that drops can be heard in that silent room. Every drop was audible. The box looked like a pandora, like a wooden cuboid. It wasn’t empty either. It certainly has something inside it, but there wasn’t enough light to reach inside it. “‘O veritas, parakaloumen se, thespizein hemin hronon ton mellonta…’ ‘O veritas, parakaloumen se, thespizein hemin hronon ton mellonta…’ ‘O veritas, parakaloumen se, thespizein hemin hronon ton mellonta…’” she again started chanting, one after another. While chanting those words she grabbed a paper in her right hand from the ground, coating her index finger with the blood that pooled in her palm. she wrote something on that paper with her blood coating her fingers in that dark liquid at least five times. ‘11:34’, she wrote in that white piece. She put that inside the box and boom she lit it on fire. “‘O veritas, parakaloumen se, thespizein hemin hronon ton mellonta…’ ‘O veritas, parakaloumen se, thespizein hemin hronon ton mellonta…’ ‘O veritas, parakaloumen se, thespizein hemin hronon ton mellonta… ‘O veritas, parakaloumen se, thespizein hemin hronon ton mellonta…’ ‘O veritas, parakaloumen se, thespizein hemin hronon ton mellonta…’ ‘O veritas, parakaloumen se, thespizein hemin hronon ton mellonta…’” She again started chanting. She chanted for exactly six times this time when she again poured her blood in that box. The huge flames enlighten the room with blinding brightness, she flinched her eyes shut from the burn of the fire and as she opened it again, there it was, a figure that looked like a man only double than any average person, raising to the ceiling of the room. The body that, that thing had was completely dark and skinny towering the lady. It was enormously tall, dark like darkest dark and skinny like a layer of skin with no fat on it. no one will be able to see it if the room gets dim like before. She got scared seeing the figure in front of her eyes. It looked a hell of scary. As she looked at its face towards the ceiling, she saw the thing had two horns on its head and a tongue similar to a snake’s. “My husband is cheating on me….” she said, her voice much weaker and pained now. She was trembling opening her mouth in front of that being. “what do you want from me? Why did you summon me here?” the figure asked its first words. The voice echoed around the room as those words bounced back from the walls of that room, it was heavy like a lion roaring, with a hint of anger that came with it, which got her shaky on her knees. “I want him to be honest with me.” She replied weakly. “do you want the truth?” that man uttered the words in the same angry voice. “yes…” she answered. “say if you want the truth…” he ordered. “yes… I want the truth. I want the truth.” She pleaded to fall on his knees. “you will only hear the truth from him.” He said and vanished into thin air, just how he appeared. The next day, at 8 am Sherry’s bedroom. “hey, you woke up.” She asked her husband who was sitting on the bed, as she entered the room. “What happened to you, you look like a mess, and what’s with those eye bags.” He asked looking up from his phone’s screen to her. “nothing just couldn’t sleep well.” She replied. “you were out all night, I called you like a million times, and you never answered.” He complained walking up to her and hugging her. “oh! ya know, I was with jane, so I couldn’t answer the call, then it died, sorry.” She said making a terrible excuse. “you should stop hanging out with jane, babe. She seems to be a bad company for you.” He said and sat back on the bed. “by the way, I meant to ask you something.” She said standing in front of him. “hmm… what is it?” he asked. “The other day, when you were at your office, I called you and a girl answered the call. Who was her?” she asked. “oh her, it was my new secretary. I was in a meeting so she answered the call. Why? Is there something wrong?” he spoke. “you are not lying? I want the truth.” She demanded. “This is the truth. Like you should stay away from jane, she is a bad influence on you and our relationship. She is empoisoning you with her nonsense.” He said angrily. “so, you love me?” she again asked calmly. “of course, I do. what type of question is that? But I’m starting to feel that you don’t trust me anymore. You keep on doubting me.” He spoke. “Okay, I’ll believe you.” She replied. “by the way, I am getting late for work. I should leave. Please get back in your senses, you don’t need jane, she only wants your money. You keep trusting in her supernatural nonsense.” He said and started leaving when Sherry said, “love you too.” He didn’t say anything and just left the place. After Brad left, she ran to her vanity and grabbed her phone. She looked happy although her husband left angrily. She dialed a number on her phone. Putting it on speaker she sat on the chair combing through her hair. “Hey, Jane! I did exactly what you said.” She said soon as her friend answered her call. “did it work?” the voice came. “I’m not sure. I asked Brad if he is cheating on me or not and he said he didn’t. he was saying the truth, right?” she asked jane. “did you do the summoning ritual correctly?” jane asked. “yes, just like you said. Cat's skull, Grains of Paradise seed and Devil's Shoestring, my husband’s picture and my blood in that box then I lit it on fire.” She replied on the phone. “did you see veritas? Did it appear when you did that ritual?” jane asked. “I saw it. damn, it was scary. But it said that I will only get the truth from him, whenever I want.” She spoke. “Really, well then it means that he is loyal to you. Did you do the reverse summoning ritual?” she again asked. “no, I couldn’t. that thing disappeared right after granting my wish,” Sherry spoke. “what? s**t. I told you to stay inside the pentagram while you perform the ritual. Did you step out of it? or did you wipe it by any chance?” jane said. “oh, s**t! My blood falls on it when I slit my hand. It was just a drop. Will it count as wiping?” she said. “the sigil got impure by your blood that is how he escaped. We have to send him back or many people could die.” Sherry spoke. “is it that dangerous? He is just the god of truth. They are good right? What is wrong with the truth?” Sherry asked. “People can’t face the truth,” Jane answered.
