Chapter- 7 Episode- 7 Since The Sin “Maybe it was actually some killer who did it,” Jim said as they were walking to the more crowded areas of the club. People were dancing, drinking, and making out all over the floor. The music was too loud to even hear their won voices. Jim almost screamed while talking to successfully pass his voice to Reeve’s ears. “I don’t think so, my source is reliable,” Reeve said almost screaming too. “Who is this source, if I may ask? You never had one before. You always ask me to look for when you get too bored.” Jim said walking out of that deafening place. His voice came out much calmer this time. But his voice had a little itch in it as if his throat hurt but screaming before, he was always a soft-spoken person. “But I have one now. And it is kind of legit.” Reeve answered him in his manly voice clearing his throat. “You don’t wanna tell me who he is?” Jim said which clearly made Reeve uncomfortable, Jim can see that in his expressions. “It’s a she by the way,” Reeve said trying to end it small talk. “A she?” Jim raised his full, dark eyebrows. “Don’t tell me the reliable source of yours is Jody.” He said almost unsure of the possibility. “Ya, so what’s the big deal?” Jim heard just those words as an explanation from his brother’s mouth. “we had a dal remember? We agreed to work together, and what’s bad if we get the cases?” he added avoiding eye contact with his brother. “If it wasn’t a big deal, then why didn’t you tell me before?” Jim spoke out. “I didn’t think would bother you.” He again said still moving around. “No, you knew it would bother me so you didn’t tell me.” Jim furrowed his eyebrows. “Let’s focus on the job here first, we’ll talk once we are back home.” Reeve tried to end the subject. He knows that the job was more important than the useless argument for Jim too. “Let’s go have a chat with the manager,” Reeve again said as his vision stopped at the manager’s badge wearing man who walked from where his eyes were. Jim looked like he decided to let it go for now. They went to the manager and said, “Hello Mr. Shears, I am detective Patterson and this is my partner detective Dolce. We want to ask some questions about the murder yesterday. Can we have a minute of yours?” they both showed their ‘perfectly forged and the closest thing to be original’ badge to the bearded and fully muscle packed man standing in front of them. Looking closely at their ID’s. “The police already took out statements.” H said after carefully looking at the badges. For a minute both Beaver Brothers stopped their breaths by the gaze of this big man, who looked less like a friendly manager but more like an angry bouncer. “We are just here to double-check all the facts. Will that be a problem for you?” Jim said covering up his nervousness. “No, I will be happy to corporate with you.” This time his voice was calmer, which cooled the boys too. “What exactly happened last night?” Reeve spoke out. His voice is always attractive to listen to but it is a bit scratchy now. “John Phoenix, he was one of our regulars, he has been since this club opened a year ago. He is the son of one of the co-owners of this club. He always books the VIP lounge whenever he comes in, last night too. He came with his girlfriend yesterday.” The buffy man started telling us. “his girlfriend?” Reeve interrupted. “didn’t you know, they took her statement too,” he said. “no of course we know.” Jim jumped controlling the situation. “they were at the lounge when suddenly a waitress heard a scream and when she went inside the room, she said saw John phoenix dead on the floor, his throat ripped out, blood splattered all over.” He said. “and his girlfriend?” Jim asked. “His girlfriend was on the floor passed out, she wasn’t hurt but she passed out from being too scared, she said. She told the police that she saw some invisible thing that killed her boyfriend.” He answered. “Do you know anything else about this John phoenix?” Reeve said. “Not in details, but I know he is the son of a wealthy businessman and he was a player type of man, he had new girls every time he came here. He spends a lot of money on them.” The manager told them. “And what about her girlfriend? Do you anything about her?” Jim questioned. “I don’t know about her. I haven’t seen her before but she didn’t look happy coming here as his other girls looked like. She didn’t look like the other girls he brought her. She looked less fancy.” He responded. “Okay, thanks for your corporation, can you take us to the VIP room, where all this happened,” Jim said in a commanding but polite tone. “Yes sure, come with me officers.” Both boys followed the manager all the way to the third floor of the building. “So, this is the place where all the actions happen? It’s nice and fancy. How much be the cost of it?” Reeve said he must be out of his mind. “Please focus partner.” Jim whisper yelled at his brother to protect their cover. “Can I ask you a few more questions?” Jim said to the manager and took him out of there to give Reeve some space to do the investigation paranormal way. When the manager and Jim left the room, Reeve started looking through every bit of the blood-splattered room. After the investigation, he came out signaling his brother to follow. Jim excused himself from the manager and asked him, “So, what did you get? Anything on the emf?” “dude it was not anything with the emf, it was nuts in the room, definitely something supernatural is going on in the club, that too something very powerful. What did that manager guy tell you about the dead guy?” he questioned back. “Nothing much just that he was twenty-three, he used to do a lot of illegal drugs in the club but from his father’s influence no once could do anything about it. He also told me that the girl who came with John yesterday she brought a friend with her too, and that girl is here in this club.” Jim told him. “That’s a good thing, maybe she can tell us something she knows about John or maybe his girlfriend. What do you say?” Reeve spoke, to which Jim respond, “I mean there is no harm in a few questions.” “Do you think she will corporate? She looked pretty and pretty girls are pretty stubborn.” Jim said again. “I have a plan.” “Santa must have come early this year because you are first on my Christmas list.” Jim went to the girl standing alone on the counter and said flirtingly. He used the old school way to start the conversation, the lines came out weirder he intended, we sucked at that. His brother could have done a much better job, by the took the roles according to their personality but nature. The girl turned to look at him with her big blue eye, she looked irritated. She looked at him with her arched eyebrows, forehead furrowed, and said, “look, King Kong, why don’t you and your 1980s pickup line climb all the way up to the top of the empire state building, beat up on your monkey chest and jump right off.” Her tone was savage and her hands moved in a way matching her tome. “it’s getting pretty hot up here. Do you wanna go out with me?” he again tried to use a pickup line. “Dude gets some new lines in that old pickup line’s journal of yours, it’s too dumb.” She again said in the same savage tone. But suddenly a male tone interrupted, the voice was hoarse and weirdly attractive to the girl’s liking, “Hey, what’s wrong with you man? Why don’t you go and pester some loser like you? Don’t you know what no sounds like?” “what’s your problem man? It’s between the lady and me? don’t you think lady?” Jim said putting his hand on that man’s chest trying to stop him from coming near him, making himself look a bit scared. And looking at the girl standing just beside him. “Clearly she is not liking it.” Reeve slammed his brother against the wall, pretending his rage. Acting to be scared Jim went out of the club. “well, thanks for your help.” The girl said. “Sonia by the way. Thank you so much for getting rid of that man.” She introduced. “Anytime, I am Reeve. Are you here with someone? I mean pretty girls like you should not be alone in such an awesome place, it is kind of hurtful for single guys like us.” Reeve said using his flirtatious skills. “I think I just got ditched.” The girl said. “the guy who was supposed to be my date said he can’t come.” “what the hell is wrong with guys? Well, can I buy you a drink?” Reeve offered. “sure, thanks.” The girl said. “it’s my pleasure.” Reve said and added, “By the way did you hear about the murder that happened here yesterday? My friends forced me to come here, I wasn’t really in the mood to come to this place. I mean someone died here and they are still acting as nothing happened here at all. It is so disrespectful for his soul.” “you don’t have to be sorry for him, he was a bastard,” Sonia said. “Really, I have heard that he was among the richest to visit this club, I mean he was very young, it is sad when someone so young passes away.” The conversation was flowing between them. “he was young but he was a dog, he treated the one lower than him like they have no self-respect. He thought money was everything.” The girl again said. “rich people are the worst,” Reeve said agreeing with her. “he forced my best friend to come here with him and he forced himself on her and when she refused him, she tried to r**e her.” She explained. “what really? How could someone do that, girls are to be treated with love and care.” Reeve said shocked. “Not all men are the same as you.” The girl said sweetly, it looked like they almost had a bond between them. “well thanks for the compliment, but is your friend now okay? How is she dealing with all this?” Reeve asked. “It was a good thing that someone kicked that bastard’s ass, to be honest, he deserved that. He had forced many girls for his interests, maybe this was his karma.” Her words were kind of harsh but it looked like she believed in karma and also that what happened, happened for good. Suddenly Reeve’s phone dinged, he picked it up and said to Sonia, “I gotta go now, my friends are leaving but this is my card, call me if you want to have a coffee sometime. I'll look forward to it.” “sure, bye.” They hugged before Reeve left. Sonia looked at his business card in her hand and said, “he was a banker; he was too hot to be one.” - - - - - - - - - - “don’t you think you slammed me kinda hard in there? Are you angry at me or something?” Jim said he was standing outside the club supporting his body against their car. “it looked genuine; this is called method acting. What did you learn in college?” Reeve replied, teasing his brother. “next time you are going to be the bad guy, and I will kick your ass,” Jim said getting inside the car, as his brother unlocked it. “let’s leave now before someone see that we are together.” They were on the way back when Jim asked, “What did she tell you?” “she said that the guy was a jerk, a rich spoiled brat, and tried to r**e her friend last night before he was murdered,” Reeve told him. “that’s all.” He asked. “kind of, ya that’s all she said,” Reeve answered. “okay”
