Chapter – 8 Episode – 6 Wednesday, 5 p.m., Wallington hotel. “What the hell happened here?” reeve almost yelled standing at the doorstep besides his brother, amazed to find their room in a total mess “I have no idea.” Jim said equally star-struck. They paced inside the room looking left and right, clueless like naïve monkeys, to the room that they left few hours ago in a perfect order which now looks like never happened. It was a mess when they left, their clothes and papers all over there but now it looks like a place they never even visited let alone lived. “is this the same place we were at yesterday?” reeve suddenly said. Jim walked out of the room and walked right back in and said, “it is room number 237, no doubt we were here today.” “then how can everything has changed about this room. The furniture is different even the pain and light are different. This can’t happen so quick.” reeve said again. “Whoever did this, they did a hell of a job.” He added. “Yeah, tell me about it.” - - - - - - - - - - “hey, we are staying in room 237, did anyone enter here in the last few hours? We have some stuff missing.” Reeve said to the receptionist. “can you tell me your name?” she said. “yes, James Colvey and David Mulligan.” Jim told her. “just a minute, let me check it.” The lady on the reception responded. “I’m sorry but I think there is some misunderstanding here.” She said after lookin at the computer for a few minutes. “what do you mean?” reeve said coming forward. “the room is booked under the name of Rothery couple, they checked out this morning. Are you sure this is the number of you room?” “yes, I'm positive, I have the keys to the room.” Jim pulled out the key of the room from his pocket and handed it to her. “let me see it.” She said and took it from his hands. Looking at it she said in the first glance, “We don’t use these metal keys anymore, we use card keys now. It surely in not ours.” She turned the nametag with the key and said, “I'm sorry but I think you are mistaken; this is not the Wallington hotel anymore. It used to be the name of this place a decade ago but now it is the Hemmingway hotel.” Their head was in turmoil, the words they heard refused to make peace with their brain. “What the hell is going on?” Was all they could think of. “okay thanks, I think we misunderstood something.” Jim said keeping his cool. “it’s fine sir, do you want me to book another room for you? Room 237 is vacant; you can rent it.” The receptionist said. “yes, sure please.” Jim replied. “right away, the payment, will be by cast or card?” she asked again. “card.” Jim responded while reeve was just standing behind bewildered trying to figure things out. “under the name?” she asked again. “James Colvey and David Mulligan” Jim answered. “here this is the key.” She said giving the plastic card key. “thanks.” Jim and reeve walked away taking the key from her hand. Coming in the room and shutting the door behind with a thud reeve said, “what the hell just happened?” “I'm not really sure.”, Jim replied. Wednesday, 10 a.m., Wallington hotel, “there is a man who is mentioned quite few times in these papers, he is somehow related to the case uncle Charles was working on the similar murders ten years ago.” Reeve told Jim. “who is he?” Jim asked. “I'm not sure, but I think we should find him out.” “okay what is his name?” “Nate Quinlan, he is connected or at least know something about something on this case.” “hmm gotcha,” “what?” “I found him” “this fast?” “yes, there are just two by this name and one of them is a kindergartener.” “where does he live?” “actually, he does not live too far from this town, it is just a two-hour drive.” “on the road then.” - - - - - - “One, two, a one, two, three, four On the road again Just can't wait to get on the road again The life I love is making music with my friends And I can't wait to get on the road again On the road again Goin' places that I've never been Seein' things that I may never see again And I can't wait to get on the road again On the road again Like a band of gypsies we go down the highway We're the best of friends Insisting that the world keep turning our way And our way Is on the road again I just can't wait to get on the road again The life I love is makin' music with my friends And I can't wait to get on the road again” - - - - - - - - - “dude can you shut it? My head is spinning from this.” “that is disrespectful, young man.” “come on dude, this ain't no time for music.” “what? There is no time for music. It is for all the time.” “Ughh” - - - - - - - - - - “yes, who are you?” an old lady asked the brother, who were at the door ringing the bell. “can we meet Mr. Nate Quinlan? We have a few questions to ask.” “and who are you?” “I am detective James Colvey and this is my partner David Mulligan, we want to ask Mr, quinlan a few questions.” “can I see your badges?” “yes, sure.” “okay you can come in” “who is it Teryl?” “two detectives are her. They said they want to ask you a few questions.” “I am sorry gentle man, but teryl is a bit careful of letting people in our home. Hope you don’t mind?” “not at all.” “please sit. Would you like something?” “yes,” “no we are good, we’ll be quick.” “what can you tell us about the incident that happened with you in pipestone?” “why are you asking about that? That case was long closed.” “we are working on that case and we found that you were related to it too. so we came here to ask about it ourselves.”
