Chapter- 3 Episode- 3 Suppeditat Animus Cupidine  “When are you going to tell me about it, Reeve? The whole night you tried to avoid the subject. What are you thinking about for so long?” Jim said to Reeve, last night when Reeve told him about his parent’s death, that it wasn’t what it looked like, h promised to tell him that the truth without hiding anything. But when it comes to that, Reeve seems to be running away. “I'm not avoiding the subject but I'm trying to be ready enough to share it with you. Can’t you wait for a while, I am not asking for anything too damn big?” Reeve said in frustration. “You have been trying to run from this for long enough, but now I need answers, I want it, and I had the right to know that.” “I know and I'm trying to. But I need more time. Can’t you just give me some time, it’s not like I'm saying I won’t tell you, like ever. I just need some time. Just plain and simple time. And I have a case here. I want to focus on that too.” Reeve said in his hoarse voice, he was a little hyped up. “enough of the small talk Reeve, I am in this whether you want or not. And whether you want it or not, you have to tell me the truth. It will be good for us both if you do it sooner.” Jim said almost yelling at his brother. “you wanna know right? Then know, our parents were killed by a freakin Nephilim.” “wait Nephilim? Seriously?” “yes, a Nephilim, a freakin Nephilim.” “Nephilim, as in the hybrid offspring of a human and angel?” “yes.” “But angels don’t exist? They’re not real.” “yah…. just like how monsters aren’t real for the rest of the world. But you and I know very well that they do exist. And they are not a few. Just like how this Nephilim is a real freakin deal.” “So how do we find it?” “he is a Nephilim; it is almost impossible to find him. Not unless he does want to be found.” Reeve answered.   “and how do you it was a Nephilim who killed our parents?” Jim asked baffled. “uncle gave me my mom’s journal before he passed away. But never was emotionally strong enough to open it and read it.” Reeve said looking into his brother’s eyes, standing in their motel room. The sunshine was coming to brighten darkened their room. “I never knew she had a journal,” Jim said. “I never told you about it, I didn’t even remember it myself. I only remembered it when he passed that general to me. But last month, I read it. After keeping it with me for so long. I wanted to know how our mom used to be, how our parents used to be. What kind of person she was? I never hated dad. I knew he was innocent. That’s when I knew that mom has been studying and researching about angels and she also mentioned a Nephilim in her journal. She said that this Nephilim wanted something from our mom and mom wasn’t agreeing to her terms. She said he was coming after her, to hurt her. To hurt us.” Reeve explained the whole thing. “but what is it that he was looking for, that he killed our parents and destroyed our whole family?” “I don’t know. That is the answer I want too. And I will, I promise I will. I will find that thing and I will make him pay for what he did.” “so, what’s next? What are we gonna do now? If he doesn’t show himself then we have a jack with a lot of squat in our hands.” “I say we hunt until we found that monstrous angel, we should keep doing what we do. and since you want in, you need practice. You haven’t been out on the field ever since you started your college. You're rusty.” “yeah? And whose fault is that?” “Okay, okay. Let’s now work on the case. Shall we?” - - - - - - - - - - - “Mama says yes, Papa says no Make up your mind 'cause I gotta go We're gonna raise hell at the Union Hall Drive myself right over the wall Rip this joint, gonna save your soul Round and round and round we go Roll this joint, gonna get down low Start my starter, gonna stop the show (Yeah) Whoa, yeah! Mister President, Mister Immigration Man Let me in, sweetie to your fair land I'm Tampa bound and Memphis too Short Fat Fanny is on the loose Dig that sound on the radio Then slip it right across into Buffalo Dick and Pat in ole DC Well they're gonna hold some s**t for me” - - - - - - - - - - - - - - “shut the song, Reeve, let's focus on the case first?” Jim said to Reeve sitting on the passenger seat. They were on their way to the coroner’s office, to follow up the case. “Hello Sheriff Keller, I am a special agent Russo from the FBI and this is my partner special agent Waterman. We are here for the...” Reeve was talking with the sheriff when he interrupted. “save the breath boys. I know you are here for the green moose lake case. Aren’t that right agents?” he said. “But isn’t he too young to be in the FBI?” he added. “Oh yeah, he is now, he is training under me, kinda like my new assistant. How to know how that is?” Reeve said to sheriff Keller jokingly, his voice was a little muffled.  “I think this being a really hot case, as the talk of the town is not something easy to handle,” Jimmy said getting back to the case. “Yes, agents, the case is a hell of the talk of the town from the past week. We are going nuts over the public’s mayhem. And the media are making chaos over this situation. Even the boating company is getting benefits from this accident.” The sheriff said unloading his problems. “But there isn’t much to the case it seems, it was an accident.” He added. “Accidents happen all the time. What is there to make such a big deal outta it? Their boat drowned and they couldn’t swim to protect themselves. But there is still something that doesn’t add up with the situation I'm afraid.” He said. “What is it, sheriff? Jim inquired. “usually in such drowning cases, once the person is dead, after some days the body would rise to the surface of the water. but in this case, the body of those girls, they just disappeared, they never rose to the surface. Even the divers couldn’t recover the bodies.” He explained.   “And you wanna know what is even weirder?” he asked and Jim and Reeve both nodded their heads. “the girls Jenna and Emma, they were top swimmers in their university. They actually got their scholarship because of it. They have stacks of medals and trophies that they won in the competitions for their school and university. They are kind of famous for that in the town.” Sheriff said. “that definitely is weird,” Reeve said slowly turning his head from the sheriff to Jim. “We’ve heard there is a survivor. Is that correct?” Jim asked sheriff Keller. “Yes, agents that’s right. Vinnie Collins, she is... was friends with the victims they were in the same college.” He told them. “and where can we meet her?” Reeve asked. “I don’t think it will be of any use.” Sheriff said. “and why is that?” Jim questioned. “she is talking weird nonsense.” “really what is she saying?” Reeve questioned. “She is saying that a whirlpool in the lake appeared out of nowhere and killed her friends. And trust me officers there hasn’t been any such activity in the water for many decades. She is definitely suffering from PTSD, just like what the counselor said.” He explained. “Can we talk to her?” Jim said. “Oh yes, I’ll give you the details of her that we have. She is here at her grandparent’s family home.” - - - - - - - - - - -   Reeve and Jim drove off to the address that sheriff Keller gave him. Knocking at the door of the house, she called her name. she soon came out of the house. “Hii, Vinnie I am special agent Russo and he is a special agent Waterman. We are here to ask you a few questions about your friends can we come in?” Jim said in a quite polite manner. His voice was calm and soft. “So, can you tell us what happened that day?” Reeve said as Vinnie opened the door for them and let them sit in. “I've already told everything to the officers. So why are you here again?” she asked weekly. She looked terrible. Her eyes had dark bags under them. Her eyes were red and her hair was messy. “We know you’ve done that but we have to triple investigate thee vics,” Reeve informed. “What is the point of asking about the incident, when you won’t believe me? No one did. Not even my parents, or their parents. Hell, even I couldn’t believe what I saw happening that day. It’s crazy.” She said scared and saddened. “Try us. We’ve heard all kinds of crazy” Reeve said. “that day, we planned to go for a picnic on that boat. We were having a good time on it. When suddenly I noticed something forming in the middle of the lake. It was strange and I was confused about what that thing is. So, I warned about it Emma and Jenna too. they thought that I was pranking them at first but then they saw it too. And I wasn’t imagining it, they did say that thing.” She was telling them while now and then Jim and Reeve both look at each other, making a face that says that they did not just believe in her words, they know what that thing is.   “Our boat started drifting in that direction. The speed was uncontrollable. We all got startled by that. It was like a jolt of force. We couldn’t control the boat; the water flow was so intense that our boat started spinning and it soon it flipped. We all and all our things in the boat, it fell in the water but then in the next second that oi opened my eyes, they both vanished and the boat and the things that fell in the water earlier were intact in their positions. It was unreal and hard to even imagine but I know what I saw. This all actually happened, I'm not lying or making things up. That was all absurd and doesn’t make any sense but it was real.” She said emphasizing her each word. “We trust you…, we do okay? Is there anything else that you can remember that happened that day?” Jim again said in his calm voice. “I don’t know what to tell you. It was just a normal day. We decided to chill so we went to that lake. Eri and Michael also wanted to tag along with us, but Jenna and Emma refused them because I will be the third wheel between them. And we wanted some girl time.” She said. “This Eri and Michael they are Emma and Jenna’s boyfriends?” Reeve asked giving a circular gesture with his fingers. “Yes. I don’t know if this is relevant or not, or should I tell you guys or not but Emma and Jenna wanted to be alone because they wanted to tell me that they wanted to break up with them, but both Eri and Michael were getting too serious in the relationship. And both Emma and Jenna wanted out. They thought I didn’t know it before, but I knew that they were cheating on them. I didn’t say anything because I did not want to be a meddling friend.” She told them. “Okay thanks for talking with us, this is our business card. If there is anything you remember about that day, call us.” Jim said giving her their business card from his wallet. “Surely agents. Please find what happened to Emma and Jenna, they were my only friends.” She requested. “we’ll try our best,” Reeve said signing off. - - - - - - - - - - - - “So, what do you think is going on here?” Reeve said as they walk back to their car. “I think there is something in the water that is causing all this. What do you think? Maybe some ghost or spirit. And since Vinnie didn’t drown, so it can’t be a sea monster.” Jim said. “There’s one way to be sure…….” Reeve said as they drove back. - - - - - - - “Officer, we are FBI agents, we are here to get some information about the past drowning accidents in Greenport, in that lake.” They said to the officer in the police department. “Why is the FBI getting involved in this case? It's just a simple accident. What is there in the case that only the FBI can handle?” he questioned back. “My apologies officer but we do our duty, what we are told to do. If you have any problem you can talk with our assistant director. We are not in a position to share our confidential data with any other departments. So, if you don’t mind…” Reeve said annoyingly. “Okay, sure.” The officer said clicking the keys on the keyboard of the computer. it had all the feeds about the accidents of Greenport that had happened in the past. “Here, I’ll take a patrol till your agent are busy with the system.” He said getting up and walked away. “Thank you, officer.” Jim sad.  - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - --  The lore says if you read without sharing the ghost might come after you.
