"Don't run, Curtis!" Vernon was annoyed that Curtis kept running.
Curtis doesn't want to be caught by Vernon because he does feel guilty for the suffering Vernon has experienced.
"Get me, Vernon! Catch me!" shouted Curtis, he kept running through the dark night and took Vernon to where he wanted to be.
"Catch him, Sam!" Vernon gives Sam an opportunity to serve and improve after nearly betraying him.
