I wake up during the night. Multiple times. Most of those times I feel dull pain shoot through my body, but it passes shortly after. It doesn’t hurt as badly as it did before I drank blood. But I’m scared. What if Cyrus’s treatments aren’t enough to save me?
I have to force myself to fall asleep every time and it takes me quite a while. I keep thinking about my mentor coming back. About how he’s still not telling me the whole story. I wonder whether the warrior witches still saw my mother at the lake or if she got my message in time. And above all, I want to know why Marcus doesn’t reach out to me.
All of those thoughts are circling through my mind, preventing me from getting the rest that I so desperately need. I struggle for the whole night and at dawn, I can’t even keep my eyes closed
