ASAD
There she is, gliding her wheels from side to side, effortless, the screeching sound of her tires made sounds like a melody. Wow, she is good. I was drifting right behind her, it's probably because I am not as good as her or because I love to watch her go. She sways around the obstacles without effort. She's swift. ‘You really thought you could compete with that?!’ I know Ares, I overdid myself there with the overconfidence. Do you know that saying Keep your enemies closer? Well I was trying to achieve that with princess Makhthum. ‘ you had the chance to be nice when she walked up to you about morocco’ she met a wimpy Asad in Morocco, I am not that guy anymore. Seeing her smiling and cheerful reminded me of how that could have been my life if her father had just left mine alone! I am not trying to be friends with her! ‘Okay Asad’. The plan is to destroy, not befriend. ‘If you want to win you've got to do better grandpa’.
I pulled my stunts and made my turns... ‘Still not as good as her’ but I try.
Asad’s pov end
Everyone on the sidelines was cheering on their friends, but the loudest cheer was for Yara, there were banners up with her pictures on them, some banners read “Go Yara” others read “Team Yara” Aliana and Reena were cheering the most, they had on their pom-poms and were dancing like cheerleaders and singing out their own remix version of beyoncé’s flawless for Yara on repeat;
“She woke up like this, she woke up like this she's Yara! Flawless!” and before anyone noticed the whole crowd started cheering on the song. One could spot Yara smiling and singing along. Her eyes filled with light and focus. “Go get it Yara” Zev shouted from the crowd clapping and cheering.
What happened next was an utter shock!
Yara’s pov
“Yara... Yara” “are you okay Yara?” what is happening? Why am I out of my car? Is the drift over? Did I win? Of course, I won. Asad Malik stands no chance. “Yara?” I heard Lana call. Why does she sound worried, wait why is everyone standing around me? “What is going on?” I coughed. Why does my head aches, I pull my hands to touch my head. “We don't know, you just drifted off the layout,” Lana said “you blew the red dust” Reena continued trying to hold her laughter. How did I end up with Reena? “Too soon Reena.” Lana rolled her eyes. “Why am I on the sand?” “immediately you went offshore, Asad came running to you, he had noticed you fell unconscious so he got you out of the car...” “bridal style” Reena interrupted Lana googling her eyes. Oh, Reena. “Reena!” Aliana scolded. So if he had pulled me out, where is he? “He couldn't stay, he said he had an emergency to handle.” Lana finished. what could it be? I bet he couldn't face defeat so he ran off and lied. Zev helped me up and Lana dusted my clothes. “Before you ask, you lost” Reena blurted as though she read my mind. “Wait what?” “come on Reena stop it. Really!” Aliana said a little irritated. “So I won?” “no you didn't “ my face fell, “what?” “nobody won! They couldn't continue cause it was all chaos when you crashed” crashed? Wait, my baby! Where is my baby? “Where is my car?” I asked looking around for my baby as we walked to the parking lot. “Asad insisted he fixes it, so he towed it with him. Something about him having experience in fixing cars like that.” Aliana explained “he’s hot and handy” Reena winked. “He also said he will meet us at the after-party, so I guess you can say thank him there? And again, we gave him your number so he can reach you when the car is ready.” I didn't know what to say or think, I'm trying to comprehend what happened before the crash, but I can't. I remember all was well and everyone was cheering then suddenly a woman wearing a black flowy dress with the crest of Al hilal tattooed on her left arm appeared all of a sudden in front of me. Wait... How's she? Did I hurt her? “Guys, did I hurt the woman? How's she? Where... Where is she?” I asked looking around us again, just then I noticed... “Why is nobody saying anything?” and why are they looking at me like I just said Harry Potter Is a wack book? it isn't JK Rowling has my heart! “Uhmm Yara there's no woman,” Zev said looking at me worried. “What no! There was a woman with a black hawk scary-looking dress! That's why I drove offshore!” they were still looking at me confused, and jaw-dropped “Yara? Maybe you need to go home and rest a little. Lana said concerned. “Yes, you definitely hit your head hard” Reena mumbled. “What? No. No, I'm fine! I know what I saw... I...” “Yara, come on, we will take you home,” Zev declared. “No! I'm fine, it's fine!”. Now I don't like the critical stares and the worried faces in front of me, I know what I saw Athena, ‘i saw it too, but it looks like we were the only ones that saw her’ it could be a shadow or something. But she spoke to me...
“There's no winning this Yara, come on! We will drop you off at home.” Aliana finished as she dragged me into Zev’s car. “Fine” I mumbled. “Well I will go ahead to the after-party,” Reena said “and ill tell hot man Asad that you said thank you” she added with a wink as she gestured goodbye and went in her car. I sat at the corner in the backseat and mobbed like a child who didn't get Ice cream when she asked. I looked over at Aliana and Zev, then I cracked a smile, they are so perfect.
Wait! What do I tell Baba when he asks about my car!
I met Baba and Ammi right in time for dinner, finally, home and breathing. Don't get me wrong, I love going out to chill out with friends, but home is always my best place. “Good evening family,” I said as I got off my heels and jacket then kissed my parents' cheeks and sat on the antic rug for dinner. “Ouuuu naan and chicken curry” I am famished. “Why didn't you come in with your car,” Ammi asked, wow woman, you couldn't even wait for me to have my first bite. “Uhmm... Well, I had a little accident” I stammered trying to get the guilt of lying again away. “What?? No! What happened?” Baba and Ammi chorused. “And why didn't you call us?!” Ammi added, it wasn't like I wasn't expecting this, but I thought I had more words. But I don't. “Well... Uhmm... You see... It's just a minor thing with the engine, I got it all figured out with a mechanic, he will bring it in tomorrow.” My face lit up when I saw finally that they took the bait. “Very good pub, I see that you are handling things, I'm proud,” Baba smiled, “yes” mama added also smiling. Phew! Close call.
Dinner lasted for more than usual, we had a long chat about getting through to the council and invites for my birthday soiree. I'm so excited. I thought about opening up to my parents about the event that happened at the drift max, about the woman, but I can't handle the talk about the sin I already committed, seeing the edge of the desert. So, I said nothing and went up to my room and sank into my soft fluffy goodness. I couldn't help but think about what happened. The woman, what she looked like, her pitch-black eyes, and the words she said before I turned. I paced from right to left on my bed, my fluffy goodness is now seeming like a rock. Uncomfortable and hard. I sat up and made my way to my Longue, looked out into the dark, and tried to get my mind off the thoughts that sat wide in my head. Who is she? And what did she mean by what she said? What did she mean by the time has come? What time has come?
I need answers, but right now all I can do is just pounder ‘Or you can talk to your parents?’ so they will have me grounded for what I enjoy? No. ‘Oh I don't know what to do Athena, it seems like there's always something to worry about.
Yara’s pov end.
Not so far off the drift venue, Almost after Yara regained consciousness, Asad was making his way back to the Manor with Yara’s car ricketing behind him. He had stayed behind the crowd at the back to make sure Yara had opened her eyes before he left. He silently hoped that the car stays in place until he got home, so it doesn't become a more difficult journey.
Asad’s pov.
I hope Arya is fine Ares, everything happened so fast, why did that woman get in the way? And how is it possible that I'm the only one who saw her? The other drifters looked at me like I was running out of mind when I asked about the woman. And why did she have the crest tattooed on her arm? Wait?! Did princess see it too? Is that why she went offshore and almost killed herself? Such a child. But I really hope she's okay.
I can't help but think about her scent. There's something about the clean exquisite and astonishing mild musky floral fragrance that keeps me wanting more. Her beautiful silky hair, the scent of jasmine... ‘All of this observation for the enemy Asad?’ uhmm! Well yes! Keep your enemy closer remember.
About the woman, I will talk to father about what I witnessed and the words she had said to me.
As I pulled into the garage, I heard the squeaky voice of Salman the butler. “Sire Asad? The master requests your audience” it's beautiful how my relationship with father grew after my transformation. I sensed more respect and involvement with him. I turned around with a graceful smile cause he was just the man I needed to see. “Thank you, Salman” I made my way into the wide brown mahogany entrance door and went straight into the study.
“Asad! Why are you home now? Did you get bored of the cheerful pack” father said with a grin. See what I mean.. Cheerful respect. I laughed at his dry dad joke and started. “No father, I just have an assignment to take care of and the tools I need are here in the manor.” “does the assignment include miss Makhthum’s beautiful Mazda?” his eyes lit up. I giggled in silence “well yes, I'm trying to get in her good books you see...“ “keep your enemies closer” we chorused and laughed. “So I take it that everything is going well on the plan?” “yes father” I lied, I don't her have wrapped around my fingers yet. “Good” “well actually I need to talk to you, something quite disturbing happened at the drift Center” Now he's eye widened, waiting eagerly for my story. I told him about how we were drifting and all of a sudden the woman came in front of us and how it appeared that I was the only person that saw her. “And father, what hit me was what she said to me, out loud; ‘the time has come ...” father’s eyes widened, this time not of curiosity, but somewhat fear! “a tattoo of the crest of Al Hilal on her left arm you said?” he asked with the same fearful expression on his face “yes”, I replied. What is going on? “What is it, father?” “you didn't see just an ordinary woman Asad” wait! What? “The woman you saw is a member of the Witches of Al Hilal.” “what? A witch?”
