CHAPTER TWENTY

Walking to the school hallway to find the notice board, the girls had already drawn out a work plan for how to make their tasks easier. Usually, Yara gets to do the planning, apart from her need for perfection, Yara also has a very impressive skill of making tasks look easier. Aliana has the best way to talk with the kids and Reena loves music and drama. “Aliana, you will be handling conversation with the kids, and Reena, of course, entertainment, and I, of course, will make sure everything goes as planned.” Yara said holding up her own and paper as they approached the notice board. This is the plan they take up every month the drive happens, but Yara always felt the need to remind them every month, on their way to check the very obvious notice board for their various tents. Aliana and Reena who had already taken note of there posts very long ago, simply nodded attentively.

The girls had finally made it to the notice board and had barely glanced at the list when suddenly Reena noticed a change.

“Uhmm There’s something weird about this list” Reena said as she bent to look closer at the list. “what do you mean?” Aliana asked as she joined Reena to check what was wrong with the list. “Look!” Reena said almost in a whisper, “Yara’s name is not in the kids’ tent” they both said in unison looking at each other with theirs wide open. Yara was distracted by small chitchat with one of the students, she had not realized yet what was happening at the notice board. Reena leaned toward Aliana and started “So if Yara’s name is not here, then..” “if Yara's name what?” Yara interrupted as she appeared right behind Aliana and Reena. “Uhmm.. Well” Aliana stammered, and Reena had formed up a wall between Yara and the list. They knew how much being around the kids made her very happy. They were afraid it was going to crush her when she finds out she isn't going to be working with the kids this time. Yara is now looking at her friends with so much suspense, “you both know you suck at keeping things a secret so get in with it! What's wrong?” they kept up with the stammering looking at everything else but her. “Guys, come on”Yara said rolling her eyes and hoping they just tell what the problem is. “We don't exactly understand.. But...” Reena finally mumbled stepping away from Aliana so Yara could catch a glimpse of the list. “I don't get it. What is wrong?”

I kept searching up and down the list, looking for what was wrong with it. They had refused to tell me so I guess I will just check it by myself. “It doesn’t look like there’s anything wrong with this li... wait?! Whattt??!!!” No !!! What what is wrong with the kids’ part why is my name missing. It states: *kids’ tent.

“Why is my name exchanged with Alexie’s?!” My name usually comes third! Why is someone else’s name there? I don’t understand. “Just calm down Yara, I’m sure there’s a mix up somewhere” Aliana swayed in, doing her famous rubs, but this time on my back. “I don’t understand! We’ve always done the kids’ tent together. Why is it different now?” “Maybe principal Fadhee got you a better post with a better tent.” Reena said. Now what tent is better than the kids tent. Wait! “What tent am I in then?” Reena and Aliana started to move away from the board looking as though they didn’t hear my question. I hate it when they get like this. It can only mean it’s bad. I started to look up and down the list again “since nobody will tell me...”. My eyes were everywhere around the list looking frantically for my name. “I will find out myself, I mean, it shouldn’t be all bad, it could be the soup tent, the elderly tent any one really. Just not the .... WHAT??!!!” No!!! any another tent but that one! “Packing and packaging?!” The packing and packaging tent is the worst! I love arranging and putting things in place, but the packaging is packed with the most boring helpers, and they barely get their work done. “Come on Yara,o shouldn't be that bad” easy for Aliana to say, she has Reena and Zev working with her.
