Asad and Fauzan are in the study, Asad had just revealed to his father his encounter with the mystery woman at the drift center. His father’s reply had put Asad in shock.
“The woman you saw is a member of the Witches of Al Hilal.” “what? A witch?” Asad looked as though his father had said a forbidden word. “But I thought there are no witches in the middle east!” Fauzan couldn't help but laugh at his son's expression. Asad’s eyes widened. “Asad, there was a time in Al Hilal where werefolks and witches lived together, and there was harmony.” Asad had dropped into one of the armchairs, he was overwhelmed. Fauzan continued “and for a society to be filled with harmony and peace, there must include rules, laws. There were a lot of laws binding us with the witches, and one law stood greater than the rest...” Fauzan paused. Asad could not handle the suspense “what law? Father.” it was as though Fauzan was lost in thought. He looked straight ahead like he was looking right at something, trying to obtain an answer. “A werefolk may not mate with a witch,” he said finally. “And this law was broken?” Fauzan nodded. “By who?” Fauzan was still looking straight ahead as though he was ignoring Asad’s question. “Father?” Fauzan’s attention snapped back to his son and he continued. “After the abomination had happened Alim Makhthum, the Alpha before Basit and Basit’s Father, decided all witches be moved to Al Sahra, the deeper part of the desert, the west.” there was a long pause, Fauzan continued. “Although, not A lot of folks know the actual story, what happened. The story of why the witches had to be separated was secluded to only a few people.” Asad looked dumbfoundedly at his Father “wow” he mumbled. But this doesn't answer why the witch appeared in front of me, and what she said to me. “After their migration, we saw little or no signs of them. Well until...” “Until when?” Asad said with uneasiness in his tone. “Until the prophecy.” “wh... What prophecy?” Asad said piercing attentively at his father who had his head in his hands. “I don't know,” he said simply. “What do you mean?” “It happened a year after you were born, the sky turned red and the land was struck with the heaviest thunderclap and lightning. And like the actual event that happened, the prophecy is kept a secret. It is said that only the members of the council and the Alpha know what the prophecy says. My guess is it affects the fate of Al Hilal”. Asad’s face fell...
Asad’s pov
But does it affect my fate? Does the prophecy have anything to do with me? “Do you think when the witch said the time has come, she was referring to the prophecy?” father went thickly silent, why has he been so faint with words since I mentioned my incident. Is there something I'm missing? “Father?” “ uhmm leave this witch talk and focus on why you are in Al hilal!” he declared. I don't understand, should I not have brought up the witch? I could see he wanted no part of this conversation anymore. So I simply said “okay” and left for my room.
in my dark blue den, as I like to call it. I sank into my navy blue soft shits. The thoughts of the conversation I had with my father keep creeping in. Why did the witch speak to me? Am I part of the prophecy? Why did she appear to me? After my conversation with my father, I can’t help but think he is hiding something from me I can’t help but think I am part of the prophecy. And what about Yara? Why did she suddenly go offshore? Maybe she saw the witch too, she owes me a thank you tho, I saved her life! Yes, I did! And why does she dress like that? Like a girl in love with rock. *chuckles* oh Yara. Wait! what am I thinking? She got hit pretty bad, I could get her good books by checking up on her. Maybe I should call her or should I? No no I shouldn’t I don’t want to seem too desperate. Cause.. cause I’m not! But will it seem desperate if I am calling because her car is with me? maybe I call to talk to her about her car? But of course, she knows her car is with me already. Why am I killing myself with so many questions, Ares, ‘there we go, another question’ I know Ares, it’s just, I have never worried so much about someone before. And in this case, an enemy. I know Asad.. keep your enemy closer.
After several attempts made to not call her royal bratness, I couldn’t help it. I checked my pockets for my phone... there you are! Okay! It’s ringing!.
*Asad: hello... hello
*Reena: oh hey Asad! Sorry, can you hear me?
What? You thought I was going to call Arya? I’m not weak!
*Asad: oh yeah I can
*reena: sorry I’m at the after-party. Are you here?
*Asad: oh no, couldn’t make it. Still caught up. Hey, Uhmm Reena is Yara there too?
*Reena: ouuu oh she’s not, she pretty stressed so Lana and Zev drop her off at home. She kept talking about seeing a woman in front of her while she drove.
*Asad: wait! What?
So princess so the mystery woman too...
*Reena: oh yeah! Sick right. She’s probably too stressed about the accident. But she’ll be fine.
*Asad: (out of focus and out of touch) ye... yeah I guess, Uhmm Reena I have to go okay?
*Reena: yeah! See you in ...
*call ends
Wait! What? So princess saw the witch too! Are we the only people that saw this woman? And why did she appear? What did she mean? Why am I so sure it’s about the prophecy? ‘There we go with the same questions I can’t help it, Ares, What if she and I are linked together... you know what! I’m going to text her.
*Asad: hey princess! Feeling better? Wanted to let you know I’ll be bringing your ride back tomorrow. Send me your address. Best regards, Asad. Sent!
‘Best regards? What was that?’ I know Ares, I don’t understand why I get all uncool when it’s about her. I probably need to pull an all-nighter with her car. It’s a weird thing, isn’t it? Trying to impress an enemy. It’s for a course, a good course. No! A great course!
Asad’s pov ends.
The day started with the beautiful sounds of the birds in the Makhthum’s garden. Yara was there early to pull the weeds off her white roses, she had also hoped to get away from her thoughts she had a dream about the woman and the words kept repeating themselves... The time has come. Even though She has a thing for beautiful flowers and for every flower she got on each birthday, her parents made sure to plant the same in the garden. she had hoped it becomes her escape. the garden was filled with seventeen different flowers, making it beautiful and colorful. She always said she loves all of the flowers equally but Athena is sure she loves the sunflower the most. It is her oldest flower. And she'd say she loves it cause it reminded her of herself, stands tall, and blooms. Typical Yara with the self-praise.
After another hour of fixing up the place for the next flower to be planted, Yara went on to have breakfast with the family. As she had hoped, there weren't a lot of chitchats today, she didn't want to talk about her car because she doesn't want to feel guilty again. The whole night last night she had thought so much about the incident that happened with the woman. And how nobody else saw her. She kept thinking maybe her friends were right, she was just overwhelmed by the accident. then she thought about Asad, he had texted her yesterday about her car, she hoped there was more to his bringing the car himself, maybe he wants to make sure I'm fine? She had thought. She sent him her address and expects him by noon
Yara had gone to the castle's library to find answers, she couldn't escape from her thoughts anymore. At the library, she met the librarian Mr. Zayd, who she told she was doing research on women with tattoos, she had picked up a lot of books and done a lot of searching, but it seems like it is no help. There isn't a tattoo even close to the one the woman had. But she kept searching. Until she was interrupted “ma’am, a young man is here to see you. He said you were expecting him?” she turned around almost immediately and smiled excitedly. “Name?” she replied anxiously “Asad”.
As she walked swiftly to the entrance she had hoped he would first look at her pretty yellow maxi dress and smile at how the sleeves fell off her shoulder revealing her beautiful fair skin. She smiled at the thought of catching him staring and acting like she hadn't noticed him stare. “There he is” she whispered as she caught a glimpse of him standing gracefully by her Mazda. He had on a black tank top and a black jeans which when remarkably well with his dark blue sneakers. The man knows his shoes, Yara had thought as she walked closer to him as though she was trying to sneak up on him. sh reached out her right hand to tap his shoulder, she could see that he was looking interestingly at something. But what?
Asad had arrived a little earlier than noon, he was hoping to catch up with Zev for some subtle tea and some socializing. He had decided to join Zev and some other guys for a game of polo. He was let into the castle after he was confirmed Yara’s guest and he has been in ewe since then. The beautiful pure white castle and the golden crest on racked on top of it like it was set on the king’s head. What caught his attention the most Is her scent. The familiar blossoming scent of exquisity. He knew she was approaching him, so he had his eyes closed facing the other direction while he savored her, her scent. He smiled as he felt her breath coming closer to his back. Tranquil he thought. He made to turn to face her guarded up and ready to tease. His guard fell instantly when he finally laid eyes on her, her beautiful yellow dress showing off the curves that fell after her bosoms and down to her waist. How curious he got about what laid in the maxi part of the dress. He took another close look at her fine neck and what pendant laid on her chest, then he noticed her sleeves sitting right after her fine fair shoulder. He thought about what glory it would be to plant a nibble on her shoulder and blow on it. And what satisfaction he would get by following her goosebumps, bumb by bumb. He started to bite his lips as his eyes joined hers. She had a pretty shy smile, she knew what he was thinking about and she was probably thinking it too. And for what its worth she enjoyed the long stare. She let her hair fall on her face to cover the shy smile she still had. Now there is the Asad I remember, she thought.
