*Episode 2: The Flight*
Eira ran through the forest, her breath coming in ragged gasps as she dodged low-hanging branches and leapt over roots. She had been running for what felt like hours, but she knew it couldn't have been that long. The darkness seemed to stretch on forever, and she could feel the weight of the hooded figure's gaze upon her.
As she ran, Eira's mind flashed back to the village hall. The villagers had been frozen in fear, unsure of what to do. But Lyra had been different. Lyra had looked at her with determination in her eyes, and Eira knew that her friend would find a way to help her.
Eira's feet pounded against the earth as she followed a narrow path that wound through the trees. She didn't know where she was going, but she knew she had to keep moving. The darkness seemed to be closing in around her, and she could feel the presence of the hooded figure drawing nearer.
Suddenly, Eira heard the sound of rushing water. She burst through the trees and found herself standing on the edge of a fast-moving river. The water was icy cold, and Eira knew that she had to cross it if she wanted to escape.
Without hesitation, Eira plunged into the river, the cold water enveloping her like a vice. She swam with all her might, her strokes strong and desperate. The current was strong, but she managed to make it to the other side, her body numb and shivering.
As she emerged from the river, Eira saw a figure waiting for her. It was a woman with long, flowing hair and piercing green eyes. She was dressed in leather armor, and a sword hung at her side.
"Who are you?" Eira asked, her teeth chattering with cold.
"My name is Aria," the woman replied. "And you, little one, are in grave danger. We need to get you to safety."
Eira hesitated for a moment, unsure of whether she could trust Aria. But something about the woman's words resonated with her. She nodded, and Aria led her away from the river, into the unknown.
As they walked, Eira couldn't shake the feeling that she was being watched. She glanced over her shoulder, but there was nothing there. The trees seemed to loom over her, casting long, ominous shadows on the ground.
"What do you know about the hooded figure?" Eira asked Aria, her voice barely above a whisper.
Aria's expression turned grim. "I know that it's a servant of darkness," she replied. "A creature that has been bound to the will of a powerful sorcerer. You are in grave danger, Eira. The sorcerer will stop at nothing to claim you."
Eira's heart sank. She had been hoping that the hooded figure was just a random monster, but it seemed that she was dealing with something much worse.
As the sun began to rise, casting a pale light over the forest, Eira saw that they were approaching a small cottage. Smoke drifted lazily from the chimney, and Eira could smell the scent of baking bread.
"Welcome to my home," Aria said, smiling. "You can rest here, and we can plan our next move."
Eira nodded, feeling a sense of relief wash over her. She was safe, for now. But she knew that the darkness would not give up easily. She would have to be brave if she wanted to survive.
As they entered the cottage, Eira noticed that Aria seemed to be watching her with a curious expression. "What is it?" Eira asked, feeling a sense of unease.
"I've been searching for you, Eira," Aria replied. "You have a role to play in the battle against the darkness. A role that only you can fulfill."
Eira's eyes widened as Aria's words hung in the air. What did she mean? What role could she possibly play in a battle against darkness?
