BAILEY
I'm lying down on the bed because I started to feel so light headed and dizzy from all of the new information floating around my head. It's not every day that someone gets told they're a werewolf and that they have an extremely good looking mate who they're destined to be with. That I was practically made for him and to birth his children. Or will they be called pups?
No wonder I always trust Nero, my body is hardwired to want to be with him.
Ugh! I have a headache.
A knock on the door interrupts my over-thinking and I don't know if I'm pleased or not. I need time to process, To think.
"Who is it?" I ask, staring up at the ceiling.
The door opens and I lift my head up to see Nero poking his head into the room. "I have gifts." I give him a puzzled look and he holds up a large bag. "Your things."
I stand with a gasp, ignoring my light-headedness. Nero enters the room with a couple more bags of my stuff. At first, I'm so thankful that I have some of my belongings but then I rethink what's happening here. "So this means I really am locked away here." I sit down on the bed, staring at the bags.
"You're not locked away." Nero steps closer. "You're here for your safety and to learn about yourself and the community you're now a part of."
"And that's going to happen here, stuck in this room?" I roll my eyes. "You keep telling me about this world I'm now part of, so show me." I shrug, calling his bluff. "Take me out of this house and show me around."
Nero grins, his hands tucked into his pockets and looking smug. "Come on then."
"Really?" My mood suddenly perks.
"Yes, let's go." He gestures to the door. "I'll show you around."
"Ok." I stand and catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror. I'm still in my lounge wear. "Let me change first." I open the closest bag to me and see my makes up and clothing. "This is weird, by the way. I should have gotten my things."
"Rosa and Steph offered. They said you would rather that than my men."
I slowly nod, imagining Nero's men going through my house to pack up my clothing. Odd and awkward.
"And they were correct." I rummage through the bags to find what I need. Nero is standing over me, watching. "I just need five minutes."
Nero steps out of the room so I can quickly change my clothes but I decide to leave my hair in a messy bun and apply a little make up. I could meet some other werewolves whilst Nero takes me on a little tour and I want to make a good impression. A little concealer goes a long way.
I look at myself in the mirror, telling myself that this is all real and I'm a werewolf. My parents were wolves. If they hadn't died in the car crash, then I would have had a completely different childhood. I would have been a part of a community, like this one. I would have grown to know that Nero was my fated because I would have understood my dreams and who I truly was.
Is this why I always seem to pick up a werewolf romance book? Somewhere deep down I knew this was my life. My head was trying to tell me but I was listening.
I'm not angry that this is happening but I am a little sad. I touch the necklace hanging around my neck and close my eyes. My wolf lays on the floor and whimpers, missing my parents. Our parents, I guess now.
A flashback of the crash hits me and I see the car spinning from my seat in the back. It's slightly foggy but I can see my dad, and I smile. I remember our adventures in the forest, jumping over fallen trees and walking amongst the tall grass. As I watch my memory though, I see him back his head on the driver's side window. It cracks and his head starts to bleed. My mother gasps and she looks back to me worried. Her beautiful green eyes widen in fear as she checks me over from her place in the passenger side. "Bailey." She whimpers in pain but then she spots something from outside the car and she looks frightened. "No." She whispers and shakes my dad urgenty. "They've found us."
My eyes snap open in shock and I realise I'm being shaken. "Bailey!" Nero shouts, looking relieved that my eyes are now open. "What happened?"
I'm breathing heavily and sweating a little. I'm still standing in front of the mirror, clutching to my necklace. "What was that?"
I look at Nero in panic and he shakes his head. "I heard you yell so I came in here to find you stood still with your eyes fixed shut."
"I saw the crash." I let go of my necklace, returning to the bed to sit down. "I saw things I haven't seen before."
"From when your parents died?" He asks, joining me as I nod my head.
"My mum saw something outside the car." I look Nero in the eyes. "She was frightened."
He nods seriously. "Something or someone."
"Someone?"
"We think your parents were running from someone and that they died in the crash or,"
"Or someone killed them." I finish for him, a dreaded feeling covering me.
Nero places a soothing hand on my thigh. "Your wolf is trying to help you. She wants to show you what you can't remember."
"Is that why it's so foggy?"
He nods, a light smile appearing. "Your wolf was there too," he taps my forehead. "She saw what happened but you have locked it away. The more you connect with her, the clearer the memory will be."
"I'll be able to see what happened?"
Nero's smile fades. "You need to be prepared for what you might see, there's a reason you locked it away."
He's right. My young brain wasn't able to handle the heartbreak, but I need to know what happened to them. I take a deep breath, clearing my head of the upset for now. "I'm ready for the tour."
Nero looks at me proudly. "You still want to?"
"Of course!" I smile, now standing from the bed. "If I'm going to learn, I need to know my way around and everyone else here."
Nero stands to face me, places his hand on my cheek and I close my eyes. This feels so calming, his touch connecting on such a deeper level than normal. He presses his forehead on mine and I can see how happy my wolf is, her tail sways slightly as Nero's wolf joins her.
"I'm so happy to finally have you with me." Nero's deep voice sends shivers everywhere. "We're a team now. You've always got me."
His mouth brushes against mine and my breath becomes shaky. I lean in closer and Nero matches me. Our mouths meet in the middle as we share our first kiss. Nero actually growls as he deepens the kiss, running his hands through my hair and causing shivers to explode over my body. I have to catch my breath when we eventually break away. I glance down and see that Nero obviously enjoyed the moment as much as I did.
"If you wanna have your tour, then you'd better stop looking at my c**k like that." Nero laughs. "You don't know how long I've waited for this."
My cheeks burn from my blushing. "Then we'd better get going."
I take one last look at his impressive bulge before I walk over to the door, laughing as Nero groans from torture. "We don't have to see everything."
"Oh yes we do." I enjoy the sight of him adjusting himself before joining me in the hall. "I want to see every little detail."
Nero sighs heavily and rolls his eyes in sarcasm. "Little minx."
I follow him, not able to hide my laughing. This day just turned out for the better.
